Terrible so far. Dude doesn't seem to care at all early on this season.

Yesterday why throw the ball and bounce it 30 feet in front of the bag and have it go out to the outfield. I get the Red Sox weren't going to pay Salty that much money or years but so far this has been an early BUST for the Red Sox.

and he just ends the game with a first pitch swinging ground out. UGG!

Granted not his fault they lost today but still.

Yeah, as a White Sox fan and a huge AJ fan, I was looking forward to seeing AJ return to the south side. However, I must say, it was kind of sad to watch.

He looks overweight, out of shape, and just completely out of it at the plate. His bat looks slow, and his swing looks lazy. He gets eaten up and grounds out softly every at-bat it seems. He also just seemed to lack the spark he used to bring. He was one of the hardest working guys in baseball for a long time, without a doubt. I really hope this isn't how he goes out.

He has the "a f it" disease out there it looks like (at least when he is at bat). I understand the signing since the Red Sox weren't going to pay Salty what he wanted but right now he hasn't impressed me at all.

I also was at the 11 inning game in the freezing cold when he had no shot to throw the runner our whatso ever and yet he still threw it and the ball hit the dirt like 4 feet in front of Pedey for an error, which in turn a run scored because of it.

yup, this is why I don't mind letting Salty go. Loved him and I hope he does well in Miami (though he's probably not gonna sustain a 140+ OPS+ or an OBP near .400). But the Sox have plenty of cheaper alternatives. And it's nice to see Butler get a mention. Always liked him and I think he'll be a solid catcher at the major league level (though he doesn't quite have the ceiling of Vazquez or Swihart). A few years ago, the Sox' catching prospects were kind of bleak outside of Lavarnway. Unfortunately, he hasn't shown much at all at the major league level and his AAA numbers have been getting worse.

Well, he's thrown out like two runners combined since the Bush administration.

Although, I'm sure you've figured that out by now.

that .267/.307/.381 and 88 OPS+ is probably what you can expect Pierzynski to do this year (maybe a somewhat higher SLG%, but even then, his power numbers will be about average at best). Same could probably be said for Salty's .250/.348/.466 and 122 OPS+, maybe a somewhat lower OBP. But he is drawing a lot more walks than he used to.
