I got me. My offense is better and although nos' rotation is deeper it is not really anything special.

Lets examine Milks claim his offense is better. #2 is a place I'm sure Milk sees an advantage.

#2 Brett Butler vs Willie Wilson
Butler has a 50 point advantage in OBP, that is his only advantage, Wilson was a much better base runner, Butler never did lead the league in steals but he did lead the league in caught stealing multiple times. So lets address this huge advantage in OBP. 50 point advantage, meaning for every 100 AB's he gets on base 5 more times than Wilson. IN a 7 game series if it goes that, players will get what 35 - 40 AB's at most so what that really means is over the course of the series Butler will get on base maybe two more times than will Wilson but in all likelihood he will get thrown out stealing in one of those. Wilson is much better defensively as well. Wilson won a batting title, Butler never did.

I will do others if asked.

How about SOs?? I would say Butler is much better at that too... OBP and SOs, IMO are the 2 most important things for a #2 hitter...

You know what's weird?

Butler and Wilson have identical career SLG%'s.

I think you're understating the OBP advantage and overstating the stolen base percentage. Wilson is a better base stealer, Butler gets on more. It would take 8 stolen base attempts from Butler to get one extra caught stealing, if we're going by career numbers. I think that's an easy pill to swallow.

That said, Butler is better suited for the leadoff spot than he is the two hole. But Joe Morgan is the second or third best leadoff option in this Mock. (Rickey, then him or Raines.)So I get the choice in the lineup.

Wilson was a very nice draft pick and an excellent two hole option due to his speed and contact.

Another thing here quick, I love Joe Morgan but he hit .300 twice in his career Brock hit .300 eight times. Morgan walked a lot, the end...

The point of the lead off hitter is to reach base... it is clear who did that better...

Agreed Wilson struck out 20 times more on average over the course of 162 games than did Butler.

Yes it is, it's also clear he is the leadoff hitter for sure in the first inning only.

Might be true that it is only definite lead off one time per game... BUT his job will always to be on base for the big boppers... otherwise why not just start your best hitter as lead off?? you get more runs WHEN you have men on base for your better hitters... otherwise your better hitters the best they can do is a solo HR...
