Just watched the game on YTTV. Some observations:

1. Manaea is just not very good. I suppose as a bulk innings guy he's ok, but I think his roster spot is going to be in peril if he continues these implosions.
2. The rookie doyer was good; would have liked to see a little more patience by the hitters although they weren't overly agressive.
3. Doval threw well, some bad luck on the blown save.
4. VR might be about done as a Giant.
5. Schmitt might need to be sent down to work on pitch selection...we shall see.
6. JJ was filthy; pitched through some mittfuckery.
7. Jackson is everything he was advertised to be. Absolutely nasty.

Legendary win...five in a row and Wood throwing tomorrow.

And I'm ok with that...
I'm sad about that. I liked the guy. No prospect love despite the fact that he produced at every level. Got bounced back and forth a bit last year but showed some promise. Yeah, he's scuffled badly after a decent start to the season but it seems a bit early to throw him out. With Schmitt needing to work on his hitting and Davis possibly going on the IL, I'd like to see the Giants give him some more time. Yesterday proved that they can win without immediate results from the 3rd baseman. Why not let him sink or swim these next couple of weeks?

The good news going into this game is that the Dodgers just put Muncy on the IL. Now Kapler doesn't have to feel the need to constantly pitch to him when he shouldn't.
Was this the difference maker last night?:D

Fair points. He's probably got some runway left.

also to be noted on that play...ultimately the doyers gained 60 feet.

But that was essentially a pointless gain. They were trailing by 2 and the play ended without a sac potential (2 outs).

No question the play ended as a net positive for the Giants.

Uhhh, 90 feet? Although, admittedly, our team looked like a bunch of little leaguers there.

Although I'd like to point out that the first GOOD decision made was by Crawford when he threw to home. We got our shit together after that. Leadership.

My bad. That was Estrada, not Crawford. Still, good play that got us back on track.

To be fair, both Junis and Bailey were way too close to Schmitt, and they were still moving towards him.
Yeah, but he should have been calling them the hell off like their lives depended on it.

And they would have if I was playing third.

as opposed to Schmitt actually, you know, CATCHING THE POPUP?

Hard disagree. AFTER he dropped the popup, sure -- but not before.

I think cal was arguing it was a pointless gain for the Dodgers as they did not win the game.

It looked like Estrada was calling for the ball as he was already watching the runner advancing home. Good to see the defense collect themselves and not let the absurd plays continue.

Also good that the Dodgers' baserunners make some gaffes themselves.

From when the pitch was thrown to when the play ended, the Giants improved their position.

I am right about this.

The runner on base was just a step. If he scored, the Giants wouldn’t have cared. If the Giants recorded the out and let the runner score, it still would have been a net positive play for the Giants.

The Trolley Dodgers have a long history of well-paid talent that usually manages to underperform to expectations. Which is to say they choke.
