I keep forgetting what a pleasure it is watching that guy play baseball. He is awkward as hell, and sometimes it hurts ME to watch him swing, but he plays the game like a kid, and that is a pure joy to watch.

Old Boch creeping back up.... Probably should have just started Osich this inning with 2 lefties due up

Yup. Almost every other team is giving their relievers a clean inning after the fifth or sixth.

Stratton had pitched pretty well through 5 though. Hard not to let him go to the 6th.

0-3 with, you know

edit: Scratch that, 0-4
Horrible hitting with RISP...

Extreme s-2-s baserunning...

Low inherited runner rates...

If this team just becomes league average in these categories, they could be a 90 win team...

A bit off chicken/egg there. The Giants pen last year sucked balls. Bochy could not afford to give them too many outs. He was forced to rely on the starters beyond their abilities.

The Giants Pen was a hot mess last year, no doubt, but you don't compound that by putting guys into high leverage situations every single time. Start them with a clean inning, statistically they have a much better chance of succeeding.

Remember way back when we were all so proud of our bullpen?

Yeah me neither.

So soon? :D

He does seem to have regressed a bit from last season, or reverted to his inner Ranger self.
What happened to this dude? Just a couple years ago he was one of the premier closers in the game.

Actually this is pretty normal for relievers, it's very very rare they stay really good for many years. All the more reason Mariano was one of the best ever.

Someone's gotta make way for Smith and (probably) Melancon
Gotta figure 2 of Gomez, Johnson and Moronta are the first to go. But Sammy and Bum will also need spots, as will Beede next week (possibly).
