Starting this thread now as the warm up tourney is underway and JDP already dropped out the Aussie Open
Donald Young eliminated in round 1 of the Aussie Open Qualifers
Yikes! Is he that bad? I thought he was just starting to play better the last couple years.
Did some quick research on him and I'm guessing he had some injuries going on last year. Only played 9 matches and went 1-8 in those matches. This was after a solid 24-22 record in 2017
Now ranked 232nd

Sometime within the next two weeks, I will get to my thoughts on the US Open Womens Finals. I know I never posted about it.
Men's Draw:
Djokovic's Quarter:
Djokovic vs Tsonga 2nd round: I hope Tsonga can make it competitive. But I haven't seen much from Tsonga the past few years.
Djokovic in 3.
Djokovic vs. Shapovalov 3rd round: Shapovalov has talent, so there's a chance this could be a good match. But Djokovic will most likely win in 3.
Nishikori vs. Karlovic 2nd round: Nice contrast of styles. Nishikori in 4.
Djokovic vs. Nishikori QF: I don't think Nishikori does that well here. Djokovic in 3.
Alexander Zverev's Quarter:
Zverev vs. Wawrinka 4th round: Wawrinka in 4. Drops the first set, but gets stronger as the match goes on.
Thiem vs. Wawrinka QF: I don't have as much confidence in Wawrinka to win consecutive tough matches right now. But oh well, I'll still pick him.
Wawrinka in 4.
Federer's Quarter:
FED could lose in the QF to whomever he faces, but I'll still pick him to win the quarter.
Nadal's Quarter:
Anderson vs. Nadal QF: Anderson has won enough big matches to have a chance. Nadal in 3.
Djokovic vs. Wawrinka SF: It's been several years since we've had this on the big stage. I usually pick Wawrinka, but I don't trust his health. It's been 1.5 years, and side of his FO Finals run in 2017, he just seems to have lost something.
Djokovic in 3.
FED vs. Nadal SF: Nadal usually wins this, even on outdoor hard courts. But FED's been better lately in this matchup.
FED in 3.
Djokovic vs. FED Finals: It's been a long time since FED has won this matchup at a major. I'll take Djokovic in 3 for now, but if FED has easy wins in earlier rounds, maybe I tweak the prediction.
Women's Draw:
Halep's Quarter:
Halep vs. Serena 4th round: Halep was a beast last year, even though she lost in the Finals. Halep in 2.
Osaka's Quarter:
Not sure how consistent she is at this point in her career. But I can say the same for a lot of players.
I'll pick her to win her quarter.
Wozniacki's Quarter:
I'll pick her too to win her quarter. I can't remember the last major to have 3 top 4 seeds make the SFs. But I don't know what else to do.
Kerber's Quarter:
Now I know my predictions are flawed. I'll pick Kerber again too, because I don't have a feeling about anyone else.
I picked all 4 top 4 players, lol. They are all good on hard courts, though.
Halep vs. Osaka SF: Halep in 2.
Wozniacki vs. Kerber SF: Wozniacki in 3.
Not sure when the last time we had the same Finals 2 years in a row, at the AO. But here we are again.
Halep vs. Wozniacki Finals: Halep in 3.
Halep has not had a good start to the year but its too early to predict anything except maybe Djoker in the Semis(Cant see that not happening barring injury).
Most intriguing 1st round matches on the mens side.
Murray vs Bautista Agut
Cilic vs Tomic
Wawrinka vs Gulbis
Kyrgios vs Raonic
Edmund vs Berdych
So far, the intriguing 1st round matchups has lived up to the hype for the most part.
Murray went down in 5 sets
Berdych upsets Edmund in straight yets
