Every year I like to do a 4 round mock draft for fun. This is strictly my opinion, and I acknowledge in advance that I will probably be wrong on most picks. Here's the 2016 version...

2) Cleveland -- Jared Goff, QB California
3) San Diego -- Jalen Ramsey, DB FSU
4) Dallas -- Vernon Hargreaves, CB Florida
5) Jacksonville -- Myles Jack, LB UCLA
6) Baltimore -- Joey Bosa, DE OSU
7) San Francisco -- Carson Wentz, QB NDSU
8) Philadelphia -- Ezekiel Elliot, RB OSU
9) Tampa Bay -- Deforest Buckner, DE/DT Oregon
10) NY Giants -- Ronnie Stanley, OT Notre Dame
11) Chicago -- Shaq Lawson, DE Clemson
12) New Orleans -- A'Shawn Robinson, DT Alabama
13) Miami -- Eli Apple, CB OSU
14) Oakland -- Sheldon Rankins, DT Louisville
15) St. Louis -- Laquon Treadwell, WR Ole Miss
16) Detroit -- Jack Conklin, OT MSU
17) Atlanta -- Reggie Ragland, MLB Alabama
18) Indianapolis -- Taylor Decker, OT OSU
19) Buffalo -- Leonard Floyd, DE/OLB Georgia
20) NY Jets -- Darron Lee, OLB OSU
21) Washington -- Jarran Reed, DT Alabama
22) Houston -- Corey Coleman, WR Baylor
23) Minnesota -- Josh Doctson, WR TCU
24) Cincinnati -- Will Fuller, WR Notre Dame
25) Pittsburgh -- Mackenzie Alexander, CB Clemson
26) Seattle -- Noah Spence, DE Eastern Kentucky
27) Green Bay -- Andrew Billings, DT Baylor

I have a scenario with Wentz on the board, and Dallas trades #4, #101 to San Fran for #7, #37. That would be my dream. Can still get Hargreaves possibly, and if not him there a few others I like.

It's fascinating .We all saw what happened last year when our QB went down. If they have Wentz or Goff rated as top 5 talents, and they pass, they could be kicking themselves in a couple if years if they pass

In theory, yes, we need a back up QB. It does not have to be a top 5 guy, though. It's Romo or bust for the next couple years whether anyone likes it or not. You don't draft a QB in the top 5 to have him sit for 2+ years, on the off chance he is going to play 3-4 games a year. You can get a capable guy later in the draft to do that. Prescott may very well be there for us in the 3rd - I really don't give a damn about him getting a DUI. IMO, neither Wentz or Goff look like Franchise QB's anyway.

Would be great if Ogbah fell, I doubt it though. I like Kendall Fuller there too

I wouldn't look at a top 5 guy as a backup, I'd view him as someone who should be able to start as soon as 2018 and never look back. Jerry's 3-4 year plan with Romo is 1-2 years optimistic

In a couple of years? ...the Cowboys brass should have had black and blues on their ass a couple of years ago for not investing in an insurance policy. The way I look at it, this issue is the sole reason for the collapse of the 2015 season.

Part of me thinks all priority should be in Romo's back up. The heart crushing truth for me is that Romo will not make it through the season and will announce his retirement after he gets hurt again.

Now few senariios have one issue effecting another so they should be able to draft a good QB and find a good starter for the 2016 season (I won't even call him a back up because there is no question he is going to play)

I would take Wentz. He's the big boy and he can check a couple of boxes right off the bat.

Your top 12 is about as good as any I've seen. I could actually see it going just like that. But, I am starting to wonder about Jack's health and thinking it could hurt him if he can't run before the draft. If he is 100% I think there is a decent chance he is a Cowboy

As tough as it is to read that, it really is a possibility. I think he is too much of a competitor to come right out and retire if he has an other tough injury, but I think it's possible that he never plays again after getting hurt this year. I Just think he would drag out the retirement part of it because I know how tough it would be for him to admit he needs to hang them up. This could of course happen to any player, but obviously Romo is way closer to that possibility than other players. Fingers crossed we don't see that for a couple years:hope:

You may be right. I think the biggest threats to snag Ogbah in the first round are Seattle and Carolina. Pete Carroll is known to roll the dice, so I could see them going with Spence. Carolina does need a DE, but I think they would really like to upgrade Cam's weapons so he doesn't have to run as much.

One thing anyone doing this exercise would see very quickly is how much depth there is at DT and DE. Even if we don't get Ogbah, Kevin Dodd is sitting there for Dallas. This draft actually sets up very, very well for Dallas. I have us grabbing Prescott in the 3rd.

Thanks! I really try to get the top 10 as best I can. After that it's such a crap shoot who knows what is going to happen? Obviously I don't have the type of access required to accurately evaluate all the available players, so I do rely on some external sources for player evaluations. For this exercise I have spent a bit of time reviewing every teams up to date depth chart, including who is currently under contract and in future years. So I really try and get a sense of what teams need now and going forward. I do my best to be objective, but I'll admit the Cowboys selections tend to lean a little more towards who I would prefer they draft. I think it's a less than 25% chance we go Hargreaves at #4.

much rather have Dodd than Ogbah

Respect your opinion on Prescott however The DWI is a MAJOR issue with me on his thinking and reasoning for a interview he has been preparing and dreaming about since high school. If they draft Wentz or Goff it will be a moot point anyway.

Lots of work went into that and thanks for posting.

Not trying to be a grouch

I appreciate your opinion. In regards to Ogbah and Dodd, I am so torn on the two. I really don't think we could go wrong with either one. Both are built very similarly, and both produced at a high level for big time programs. The reason I chose Ogbah is he has a slight edge in measureables - longer arms, and seemingly slightly quicker. At the end of the day, I would be ecstatic with either of these guys in round 2.

Prescott fucked up. No doubt about it. I don't pretend to know the kid, but I have read some pretty good things about his character, and he was apparently loved at Ole Miss. He made a huge mistake, drinking and driving is stupid no matter who is doing it. But he is a kid after all, and kids make mistakes. I know a few people who have been hit with DUI when younger, who I would consider excellent people - it happens. Give him a chance to correct his mistake. This kid's loss could be Dallas' gain. Just playing Devil's Advocate here, but do we know what he blew? Was he at like .09 and just maybe had 1 beer too many? Or was he wasted and blowing .15-.20? If anyone has the answer please share, I don't feel like looking it up.

STARKVILLE — Dak Prescott took two breathalyzer tests that didn't return any usable information after police arrested the former Mississippi State quarterback last weekend, according to a police report released Tuesday.

The documents state that Prescott, who was charged with speeding and driving under the influence, agreed to a breathalyzer test and took the first of two at 1:13 a.m. last Saturday. The test returned as an "invalid sample." Prescott took another test at 1:47 am., which came back as an "insufficient sample."

It's not entirely unusual for samples to come back invalid or insufficient. Prescott's arrest was not based on his blood alcohol content. The officer cited the former Bulldog for being "under the influence of intoxicating liquor."

Prescott is set to appear at municipal court in Starkville at 2 p.m. on April 11 in front of judge Rodney Faver.

Hmm no smoking gun Proof just a judgment call by the officer. I bet Prescott has a good attorney and gets this reduced or thrown out. While the article says its not entirely unusual to be invalid or insufficient I find that hard to believe. You can buy a pocket breath analyzer that while it wont stand up in court is extremely accurate and works very well.

Makes you wonder if it could have been something other than alcohol or a mixture. Or just a Judgement call from a irritated officer. Just saying not poking fingers at law enforcement

Interesting

The only thing that changed for me is maybe now we get Prescott in the 4th instead of the 3rd as I said in February. Really starting to like the LA Tech runner for the 3rd round
