The dodgers changed, but I am not convinced that they got better. We will see.

I like that the Padres are "trying", but they have decimated their farm and there OF will be fun to watch. Their pitchers will be pulling their hair out in no time.

Not really..

They still have a pretty strong farm system. Kept some of their top SP specs, kept Austin Hedges, Rymer Liriano.

They moved two big specs, but still have a very solid farm system

I'm not sure we got worse. I say this for a few reasons:
1. We will have a healthy Cain this year; the last two we did not.
2. We will have a healthy Belt this year; last year we did not.
3. We will have a full year of Susac; last year we did not.
4. We will have a full year of Panik; last year was musical chairs at 2b
5. We will have a legitimate LF; last year we did not.

Now, injury could derail everything, and we had a longer season last year than anyone (YES YES YES). However, we have the best manager in baseball, and plenty of flexibility with the roster. I'm not pessimistic.

Until they lose 24 of 30....:omg:

To play devil's advocate
1. We don't know if Cain will even return to 2013 form.
2. Which Belt are we getting? .280 or .245 hitter?
3. Can't hate on Susac. Nothing for me to counter here.
4. We don't know if Panik's "rookie" year was an outlier or he will remain a .300 hitter against MLB SP.
5. Hitting wise, Morse was the better LF. Though Aoki will provide better defense for sure. Leadoff when AP hurt.

I'm still in favor of this offseason (though will be disappointed to see Moncada playing for SD/LAD). No big money committed to aging players. All short deals.

Though I might be the "tzill of the offseason" by viewing us as third best in NL West.

6. We will have a full year of Peavy, last year we did not.

We definitely did get worse at 3B, and we lost Morse, but they are counting on the things you mentioned plus other progress like Craw getting better with the bat to make up for it.

It's an odd year, so it is what it is, we are definitely on paper good enough to get a wildcard. The division winners will likely be the Cards, Dodgers, and Nats again. WC contenders are Giants, Marlins, Cubs, Padres, Pirates. Injuries as always can make this whole thing change.

Excited for the season!

MLBTv has predicted that the NL Wild Cards will be SF and SD. I don't think both WCs will come out of the same division, but the Giants are still viewed as a playoff team, at least.

I'm still ok with winning it all every other year....

This is my point, we aren't necessarily worse. We don't know what we'll get with Cain, but it's reasonable to expect an improvement over the last two years. With Belt, it's reasonable to expect a healthy year. Whatever we get out of Panik, it's reasonable to expect it to be better than the morass that preceded him. Aoki, overall, will be an improvement over both Morse and Blanco.

We lose some at 3b for sure, but I think we gain with a healthy Cain and a better situation in LF, 4th OF, and 2b.

Time will tell...

Well, if you were to follow the analogy, you'd need us to trade MadBum for Cueto, and Buster for Suzuki.

And then, we'd need to have the best record in ST.

Just sayin....

Aoki is not much of an improvement defensively over Morse if at all.

Giants have upgraded their airline for this year. A lot of travel so the owners have gone first class all the way for the team. Hopefully it can count for a few more wins on the road which could make the difference.

7. Perhaps we can see Oxy for more than 60 games?

Hudson still not sure if this will be his final season. Not sure if he will announce his thoughts before the season starts or during the season. Hudson is coming off another ankle surgery but not as severe as his last one.

McGehee settles at $4.8MM. Everybody is now signed.

Giants nearly perfect in avoiding arb. Only the junk puncher.

8. We have the same closer all year, and the bullpen won't be in turmoil and doubt.

Maybe, maybe not. Who's to say that Casiila won't start sucking in July and need to be replaced by Romo (or someone else)? Hey, it's not what I *want* (far from it) but nobody saw the opposite happening last May either.
