Does anyone know where we are at with the Big 4 (Buehler, Funkhouser, Sborz and Pfeifer). Sborz could really help the pen and Buehler or Funkhouser could pull a Michael Wacha and contribute immediately. I hope we sign all 4 sooner than later.

Villian, have you heard anything about the negotiations? Also, I hope the Cuban acquisition can be a shot in the arm as well. Alvarez might be able to help??? Villian might be able to share some insight on if that is possible.

All in all, we need the cavalry to arrive sooner than later. The pitching staff has done the best they can at this point. Maybe last nights game is still fresh in my mind?

Don't expect any player signed from the draft or the international signing period to be a significant help at the MLB-level this year.

So we have 2 days (July 17th) to get Funkhouser and Buehler signed. Is that the deadline? Any news on the contract negotiations?

We need to get this done and get these guys assigned to the appropriate minor league team. I hope we sign both of them.

It's extra important to sign them because the Dodgers are over the limit right now. If they don't sign them then there's a risk of losing their first rounder next season.

Sux, I wanted to sign him badly. Hopefully we close the door with Buehler and Rios.

Maybe we can finally get a deal done with Eddy Martinez as well.

I'm stoked that it's below slot. Now it's just Rios remaining, IIRC.

Wow, not a good day to be a Dodger fan. No Funkhouser and now Buehler needs Tommy John? Not sure why we just didn't sign him and give that portion to Funkhouser. Not sure if its possible but we got duped it seems. Not sure why we didn't give more of an effort to sign Funkhouser and just let Buehler walk. The kid is talented but he won't pitch competitively until 2017. I don't get the strategy at all???

well this kinda turned out like poop. silver lining here is we get an additional draft pick next year in a year we're locked out of the international market.

Funkhouser was a known risk in terms of signability. That's a major part of the reason he fell so low. Also, with Buehler needing TJ, you gotta wonder why the Dodgers didn't draft one of the other lotto ticket injured players like Mattuella.

Good news is that Rios signed below slot as well. Kinda ridiculous to think that the Dodgers didn't go over the slot pool amount and into the penalty.

Also good news is the over-slot guys from down in the draft. Brendon Davis and Imani Abdullah are stellar prospects.

I agree Villian-

We get the 36th comp pick for next year. Suppose that Greinke walks next year and we offer arbitration to him, do we get another comp. pick as well? What about if we trade for Cueto, offer him arbitration and then he walks, do we get another one for him?

Technically we could get 3 comp. picks right?

You gotta imagine the injury didn't pop up until after they selected him, I mean hell he made two starts in the CWS after he was selected. If they knew he was injured they would have taken Matuella you gotta believe. If I remember correctly them saying they didn't want to take a risk on an injured guy this year... and look what happened.

Yes for Greinke, no for Cueto. A free agent must have been on your roster for the entire season in order to be eligible to receive a qualifying offer. Brett Anderson could fall into that category if he stays healthy.
