If this draft is anything like last year we'll be picking USHL and prep school kids the rest of the way

If he ends up like Johnny Oduya then this is a nice pick

Lindblom is a powerful skater with a strong, two-way game. He isn't shy to do the dirty work and is a pain to move out from in front of the net. He gets himself open to create offensive chances but isn't overly flashy.

It is an excellent pick - he scored six goals in seven games in the SuperElit playoffs, William Nylander played in those playoffs too

Very nice stat line. Sounds like we got two good middle six forwards

Flyers take d-man Jesper Pettersson from Sweden:

Pettersson is a defensive defenseman. Although small in stature, he is very stocky and plays like a much bigger man. He likes the rough stuff and blocks shots. Might also have some offensive upside.

Is it me or are we getting progressively shorter and faster?

I think this draft was full of shorter players than your usual drafts from years past. I don't think the Flyers are targeting shorter players w speed necessary. Speed is definitely now displayed in our farm system. Hexy did his homework very well. It was a decent draft. I can actually relax knowing that we have hope for defense in the near future. The future looks bright for the Flyers.

I think we all have to adopt the Calgary Hitmen as our WHL affiliation now for next year. Sanheim and Fazleev

After having time to mull it over and do a little research, here are my thoughts:

Travis Sanheim - another 3-4 d-man for a team loaded with them at the NHL and prospect level. But, if the Flyers truly believe he was the BPA at that spot I'm good with it. The Flyers traditionally draft well in the 1st round, so I have faith here.
Nicolas Aube-Kubel - I don't like this pick. From everything I've read, he's a high motor guy who may not have the offensive skills to develop into a top 6 winger, and hasn't displayed the defensive instincts to be a bottom 6 winger. I think this pick continues the Flyers' track record of failures in the 2nd round.
Mark Friedman - sounds like a great pick at this point in the draft. A potential Ghost-type player, and RH to boot.
Oskar Lindblom - had a poor season until the end, but showed up when it mattered. Could build on that. Decent gamble.
Radel Fazleev - has the tools, but hasn't figured out how to use them yet. Decent gamble.
Jesper Petterrsson - Based on what I've read, could be another late round, late developing European d-man with true NHL potential. A well used pick.

Tough to tell at this point but I've heard McDonough comparisons for Sanheim let's hope! I think overall they have a good mix of players in this draft.
