...because I am losing my mind over the lack of news.
I'd say we likely roll with something like this opening night:
Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Lecavalier-Simmonds
McGinn-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-Hall-Talbot
However, I really dont know how much I actually like them. For one, I really want to try Lecavalier on the wing with Giroux, just because I'd prefer having Schenn at his natural position. But then that breaks up the beautiful Giroux-Voracek duo. Does Jake sustain last year's play without G? And then there is McGinn. Honestly, I'd rather go with Akeson or even Raffl, provided either one of them can earn it in camp. Then there is my dislike for Rinaldo, but I see no way he isn't in the lineup come opening night.
So then we have:
Hartnell-Giroux-Lecavalier
Simmonds-Schenn-Voracek
Akeson-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-Hall-Talbot
But then what about trying Voracek on Giroux's left? And what about Laughton? Will he be able to stick in the NHL, or is he going back to play in junior? I'd prefer he go back to Oshawa, but I wouldn't put it past the Flyers to have him stay.
Voracek-Giroux-Lecavalier
Simmonds-Schenn-Hartnell
Akeson-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-Laughton-Talbot
And then on to defense, which I suspect will look like this:
Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Streit
Gustafsson-Grossmann
Which is okay, but I would make a little change. I really dont want Streit playing hard minutes, and hope that he can change be a point getting PP specialist. Swap him and Gus, who i thought looked great down the stretch. Of course Meszaros is still around, so we'll have to see what happens with him.
Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Gustafsson
Streit-Grossmann
And finally the goalies. I really don't know who starts opening night. A case can be made for either. For now, I give Mason the edge.
