An hour before tipoff of the first UofA basketball game of the season and no game thread yet?! Lets get this season rolling. Could take awhile for the new guys to mesh, according to coach Miller they "just aren't a very good team right now"... but at this point of the year that can change in a moment.

I'm obviously looking forward to seeing what Stanimal brings to his first college game, but am even more interested in seeing what Bash looks like in his return to the court, if Tarc is more comfortable on the block with his post moves, if RHJ's J is really as improved as rumor has it, what Elliot Pitts has worked on in the off-season, and whether or not McGeneral is going to bend this team to his will. He is the best pass-first PG we have had in many years. He is a senior. It is his time to make his mark in the annals of UofA Basketball History.

Me, I like the quick hook... something that Lute used to take advantage of a LOT. He would pull a guy if his head was not in the game, regardless of his reputation, or stature.

Right now, I just think that Miller is trying to figure how who is ready and willing to play and who isn't. Quick-subs are good, if they send a message, but I think Miller is just experimenting atm.

Well we do play 3 games in 6 days. Plus, maybe Miller learned his lesson after last year after not usuing enough subs earlier in the year

It's the first game too so I wouldnt look too much into it quite yet.

sooo... in the first 17 minutes they looked like a bunch of individuals, trying to make their mark in the first game of the season. In the last 3 minutes ( a 12-0 run ) they looked like a team.

Lots of cringe-worthy moments there in the first half, but at the end of the day, they shot 55%, and held MSM to 30% and are up by 15 at the half. Without that run, there would be a lot of sky-is-falling type of posts in here...

... but my guess is this is going to be a run type of team for the first half of the season. They might not look like they are playing up to their talent level much of the game and then BAM!!! they make it look easy.

If only they could make it look easy for the entire 40 minutes, they would win by 80.
