He is 6'2" so it may just be the angle off the camera of how tight his crouch is.

Maybe, but if he improves his skating you never know. I've always liked the hard working blue collar players plus it sounds like he can score. Bonus.

Hes a good player and him being 18th is a good problem to have.

I think it said he is only 19 to? Unless I read that wrong, plus he has good size.

All he did last season by playing hurt was make fans criticize his play.

Yep, I expect him to have a better season, but like the article said, he was replaced by Patrick which should've been a wake up call to Hakstal to. Players need to quit being so overly tough until playoffs start.

He can be "Papa Smurf" height so long as he keeps the puck out of the net.

You could sign him to 8 now and extend later but I agree that it will most likely be a lot higher at that point. It's all a game and depends on the player. Trouba was mentioned but I'm guessing that he wants out of Winnipeg and back to the US hence all the bridge deals. He could possibly be traded next year...

What I meant by the Simmonds example is that the Flyers signed him to a long term deal early, expiring at age 30. Unfortunately now, given that there will likely be one or more teams willing to throw something like 7 x 7 at him, the Flyers may be forced to either match knowing the last few years of that contract will be a bust, or let him walk. By going 3 now and then 8 later even though the total cash outlay would likely be a bit higher, Provy would be under contract until age 33 and, if some team wants to throw a ridiculous term at him at that point, it would be a lot easier to wave goodbye than at age 30.
