Hanson - lf
Posey - c
McCutchen - rf
Belt - 1st
Crawford - ss
Sandoval - 3rd
Panik - 2nd
Hernandez - cf
Rodriguez - sp

I generally like this lineup. I think Posey makes a good number 2 hitter. But I would rather see Hanson hit 6th and put Hernandez in the lead off spot but I'm fine with Hanson lead off as well.

I don't think Posey is a good #2 hitter at all. He's only hitting .257 batting 2nd (.325 hitting 3rd, .256 hitting 4th)

Panik is an ideal #2. Posey is a good #3, but that spot now belongs to Cutch (for now), who has warmed up. Posey is neither hitting for average nor power, nor is he producing runs. He's on pace for a career low in RBI, barely aiming for more than 50. It's odd, he's hitting .256 with the bases empty, and .327 with RISP, but in 67 games, has only had RISP 52 times. (17 for 52 with 19 RBI). That latter stat seems to indicate that if he comes up with multiple RISP, he is only driving in one at a time.

If Hanson is leading off, I'd rather see

Hanson (S)/GorKys (R)
Panik (L)
Cutch (R)
Belt (L)
Posey (R)
Craw (L)
Panda (S)
Hanson (S)/GorKys (R)
Pitcher

And why the heck isn't Slater playing?!? Going 3-4 with two double and two RBI's doesn't earn another start? :lm:

I suppose we knew that, but were hoping Noggin might change his ways a bit. (Sigh)

I didn't look at Posey's historic numbers at the 2 spot. I don't see Bochy batting him lower than 4th. Maybe he could swap McCutchen and Posey to 2nd and 3rd. Panik isn't hitting well this season, so I prefer him in the 7th or 8th spot.

With the improved pitching of Suarez and DRod (and Stratton), Scrabble may have a very short leash. Cueto looks to be in good shape to come back. I wonder if any contending team would be interested in Scrabble at the trade deadline. A historical innings eater. We could jettison some contract. Doesn't really matter what we get in return.

Bum (L)
Cueto (R)
Suarez (L)
DRod (R)
Holland (L)

With Stratton and Blach as long men in the bully. I can't see Holland being a long term solution as a starter, perhaps in relief, but he has been pitching very well of late. Too much pitching, good problem to have.

I could see something happening there, potentially. The rotation moving forward could be centered around Bum and Cueto with DRod, Stratton, and Suarez as the primary 3-5 with Holland holding a spot this year and Anderson, Beede and Herb pushing the next couple years.
