Rapoport ‏@RapSheet As he plotted potential moves & his next @NFL stop, Chip Kelly was trying to figure out how to trade for/sign Colin Kaepernick. No need now.

#49ers GM Trent Baalke sat down with Colin Kaepernick before the season ended. That olive branch may prove incredibly valuable going forward

Kyle McLorg: I said Kap wanted to make it work. Was told Kap definitely wants to stay if the coach is Kelly.

Another year of kaep bouncing the ball like he is playing four sqaure to the wr's. Great just great. You know sometimes it is better to see something that is broken and won't work and move on than trying to fix it and waste you time.

What Kelly did in Philly was like walking into a grocery store completely high. He won't have that liberty with us...Balke will handle the shopping and Chip will just be in charge of X's and O's.

In other news...FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!

That's just how I feel at the moment...was not expecting this move. Who is he going to put on the staff? Who will want to work for him? I think we may be in trouble unless he changes his tune a la TC // Bellachek in their second rounds with their respective teams.

Ok I had time to think about this. Im going to be Honest. At first hated this move but then I really thought about it. I think people hate Kelly the GM not Kelly the coach. He has won 10 games 2 out of 3 years and he helped 2 QBs with in those 2 years. He is a proven HC and an offensive minded coach. Our Offense was a mess.

Overall this is a BIG up grade over Tomsula. If Kelly can be just the HC I think we might of found our selves a steal here. Now its Baalke turn to help this team out talent wise. we have 50+ mill to spend and some nice draft picks. Just as insurance we need to draft a QB in this draft. This will be Kaps last shot.

Overall i give this move a B- with a chance to be am A+ but a chance to be an F. Its either Boom or Bust with this move. He needs to sign a Big name DC to help him out.

Yes thats whats great. Kelly is a good x's and o's guy. Thats why this is a BIG up grade for the 49ers. We need to remember he will not be the GM. He won't trade Hyde or Lynch or any other player. He might give his input to baalke but baalke will be making the moves(again don't know if this is a good idea LOL.) Kelly will only be the HC. This is a positive for the 49ers.

Hey 49ers could of done worse. Mangini could of been our HC. LOL Hey Kelly has a winning record in the NFL. Not many college coaches to the NFL can say that. Not a bad move by the 49ers. I do agree that Kelly needs to hire a good DC to help out.

At least he's more qualified than Tomsula. But still would have preferred Shanahan.

Hate the move because he does not instill the confidence that he can right a ship. He had talent in Philly and didn't understand how to use it. He kept using DeMarco Murray in the McCoy role which Murray is not suited for. Further, his defenses are historically some of the worst. You throw in noodle arm Gabbert who can't throw for a 1st down on 3rd and 5 (not saying we have options, just stating facts) it makes for a messy upcoming year.

not me i was over shanahan. Guy hasn't done much in a long time. Either way I would been ok. Again I was not happy at 1st but if we you really look at it its not bad for the 49ers. He is a lot better then Tomsula.

yes but he never had the QB to run his system. and still had 2 10 win seasons.
