I have said the dolphins franchise is much like the lions since I moved here... betting against both teams makes you a lot of money.
Dolphins are actually negative 6 million right now... there is no way they can free up 20 mil with just 2-4 cuts. They have no salary cap space what so ever... the new GM is going to have to make cuts just to get under the cap.. let alone sign free agents.
Cameron Wake $7 mill
Jordan Cameron $5.5 mill. not enough production. Said Clay was his security blanket. It showed. Should have spent the money on Clay.
Quinton Couples $7.751 mill
Greg Jennings. $ 4 mill
Dion BUST Jordan $3.2 mill
The only one that might not happen is Jordan C. The others will. You do the math Vice...
Dead Cap Hits - Cutting these players won't add up to $20 mil in space....
Jordan Cameron - Dead Cap 2 mil
Greg Jennings - Dead Cap 1.5 mil
Dion Jordan - Dead cap 3 mil
Cameron Wake - Dead cap 1.4 mil
Cutting all the players you list would give the dolphins about 12 mil in cap space... Not 20 mil.
I actually did the math wrong on my original post.
Wake is $8.4 so my number was low.
You subtract the dead money from the cap hit to = savings...not dead money from savings.
The Lions have 20 mil right now... and can free up a TON more if they cut guys like Mathis, Tulloch, Pettigrew, and Bell. The Lions will have somewhere around 35 mil to work with if they do that.. and that is without cutting calvin... heck.. they could redo his contract and save more. The dolphins do not have anywhere near the cap flexibility the lions do.
You don't have to use it... Lions better served to focus on the draft and get a few mid tier guys for depth on the lines...Not a huge FA crop aside from DB's. Wrong season to have all this money IMO
And neither of us took themOF COURSE Miami just beat the Pats, giving the Broncos free reign to win home field.
A LT in FA for sure. Glenn or Harris. I am done with our tackles.

They also have 8 million in rollover cap space from this year
When it comes down to it.. no matter what you guys want to say.. the dolphins will have one of the lowest amounts to work with in the entire NFL... there is nothing they can do about that. They can cut half their team if they want... They don't have the money to be players for any major free agent this year. they will need the money they have to sign their draft picks and fill roster holes.Don't get to complex on him...

The projected cap is closer to 150 mil by most estimates i have seen.aside from rollover and cuts Suhs base salary is huge the Dolphins can still kick the can by converting part of it to signing bonus for example converting 6 million to signing bonus would free up another 4.8 million is space(28.6 down to 23.8) next year. Early estimates for have the 2016 cap between 153 and 160 million
Cap could hit $160 million in 2016
If the Dolphins or Lions want a player the cap is easy enough to manipulate and luckily for the Dolphins and there fans Miami is a pretty appealing place to play.
