And now a possible addition of Tebow? Wtf? A stable of QBs and RBs? Chip is indeed a curious fellow.

So you guys figure we have Tom Brady now....Cool...I hope your right.

Tom Brady wouldn't have been available for just a 2nd rounder two years from now. So why would you say that?

Every time I log in and see the thread title it makes me laugh. Quite an overreaction.
After we trade one of the best young, healthy, proven QBs in the NFL, and his double ACL reconstruct replacement steps to the mike and says in so many words.. "well, I don't know when I'll be ready.. we have to discuss the timetable for that..", I don't laugh, I vomit.

Several years ago, there were two NFL free agent quarterbacks making the rounds in Dante Culpepper and Drew Brees. Miami was a little scared of Brees's injury history and balked and ultimately signed Culpepper.

Frankly, both guys were worth a look see. One was a bust and the other a HOFer. You take a shot when you see a talented guy hit the market.

And only a couple of years ago, another injury risk player named Peyton Manning hit the market. I think Denver is glad they signed him even if they haven't won a Super Bowl with him.

Yeah and then there is that! :L

Wait til you see what Foles ends up costing STL this year before you think too much of Bradford's NFL average salary. Foles is due for a big raise.

He's under contract. He will cost 1.5m this year. Both of them will be FA in 16.

Foles is a rookie contract in his last year. Most QBs in that situation get the extension with a 8 figure guarantee. When all is said and done I think Foles and Bradford make a bout the same next year.

What many are not getting here is it has nothing to do with "WHAT IF BRADFORD STAYS HEALTHY" or "WHAT IF BRADFORD BECOMES A STAR" a trade is based on what both parties agree upon based on output, upside, past etc....There is no way Sam Bradford, with back to back years with ACL tears, and a mediocre at best NFL career was worth Nick Foles a young, up and coming QB with good knees based on everything I just pointed out....then on top of it a 2nd rd pick, the Rams robbed us on this day.....could we end up making out in the long run, sure we could, but on that day, we grossly overpaid for Sam Bradfords services.

Given Sam Bradford's injury history, it would've been a much more fair trade if the conditional pick was getting our 2nd rounder back if Bradford got hurt again.

I think we got ripped off on the 2nd round pick we had to give up ... I don't however think that Nick Foles will ever be anything other than backup fodder in this league. You have to understand that nobody knows better what Foles can and can't do than Chip Kelly. How little must Chip think of Foles to trade him away when he's making pennies compared to Bradford and on top of it give up that 2nd rounder???

You make a good case. Foles is younger, healthier, cheaper and more accomplished. Arguably, the Rams should have been giving Bradford + for Foles rather than vice versa. I think that is what caught all of us by surprise.

You are thinking logically and rationally by the numbers. In short you are thinking like Roseman. A by the numbers accountant type. Roseman would never do that deal.

That is what makes this fun is we have a football guy making these decisions and this deal is symbolic of the change in leadership here. This deal is based on what a football guy sees on tape with Foles and Bradford and what he thinks of the players.

I believe from Kelly's perspective this was an easy decision as I think in Kelly's evaluation he was going to drop Foles on the depth chart below Sanchez. Once he did this, he would essentially ruin Foles' market value and risk having him as a disgruntled backup this year on his team. Instead by trading him as a starter, he is getting an asset he values back and also puts Foles in a situation where he will start and in all probability get a huge contract extension. It's good for Foles, good for the Eagles and good for Bradford. He gets to test drive Bradford for a year, a QB that he thinks can run his offense much better than Sanchez or Foles. If he is right he's got his Franchise QB. If he's wrong he is out a 2nd round pick and a QB he didn't want anyways.

None of those QBs had an ACL tear. Many players have come back from ACL surgeries though, like Tom Brady and Adrian Peterson. So good things can happen. Bradford had two on the same knee. And I think the second happened as he was going to the sideline. The whole thing is risky and less than 50-50 that it works out. Bradford can have a good rehab. Otherwise, I think Sanchez and Murray and another speedy WR plus improvements in the OL/DL and etc. can save the season.

And now they are rumored to be getting rid of Barkley who was a numbers guy dream pick. He had the 40+ career starts, all the measureables, top notch competition. By the numbers even better than Kevin Kolb.

So why did he last until the 4th round? Because football guys didn't want to touch him early. They ask themselves more gut level questions? Is the player good at football? Is he passionate for the game? What does the tape say? What does their college coach say?

Arguably Nate Allen is a great numbers guy. But was he a football player? How about Carey Williams? Did he love football? Or Sconces? How about DJAX? Or did he only love being a football player AFTER the game with his homeys and ladies?

All these guys chosen by a numbers guy and shown out the door by a football guy.

I find that odd because he threw the ball with more zip than either Foles or Sanchez in this past preseason. It's probably a chronic weakening.

While I agree with your notion.. consider 2 other factors...

Bradford was utilized to help get us a RB from DAL

Foles didn't want to be in PHI anymore, and I'm sure Chip knew this.

And while Foles has potential, he can't move for chit, and makes some very curious decisions (like changing hands and passing with his opposite arm) and looks very scared out there at times. I'm sure Chip has gotten to evaluate Foles and the fact they kept Sanchez and trade Foles, says something about which one is truly motivated to succeed here.

I'm not saying Chip isn't doing some curious things, but I think you have to at least factor these things in as well.

lol. Foles never said he wanted to leave Philly; one report states vaguely that Foles told a "relative of his that he wanted out." Crappy rumor mill, of course.

I saw Foles play in a heavy snowstorm and in frigid weather in CBP and he played like it was a spring day.

In one 2013 game Foles threw 7 TDs without an interception. Foles holds the best TD-INT ratio in a single season (2013) with 27 touchdown passes and only 2 interceptions.

Chip was mad when Foles tossed 10 interceptions last year in 7 games. But Kelly did dump their best WR Jackson the year before. Eagles were 5-2 last year before Foles broke his collarbone.

All of this proves Chip's clownish nature. But I hope he succeeds.

I love some of the reasoning around here. Just makes you laugh.

Chip looked around, saw what was available and went and got the QB he thought had the most upside in his offense. He wasn't the only coach to think that. Multiple teams wanted the opportunity to go into the season with Sam Bradford as their QB. So due to nothing other than the law of supply and demand it required a second rounder to make it happen.
