Not really cheaper. McCoy makes about the same and there was less of a guarantee left on his contract. He had a one year jump on his old contract up to $10.75M, but overall, if you liked both players equally, the old contract was probably a little better deal.

Don't forget the STYLE of back that Chip gets now in Murray. That's what this is all about - there have been hints dropped for months now that Shady was irritating Chip because he's a East-West guy, watching the games last season I can't count the number of times I almost threw something at the TV because he continued to bounce runs to the outside instead of hitting the hole. There is no issue about that with DeMarco.

With the way things have played out this week, who the fuck knows? Anything is possible. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought 2 weeks ago we would have Sam Bradford and DeMarco Murray on this team. Crazy

But watching sproles have constant success where McCoy didn't seem to be able to do anything really showcased how bad it became with McCoy last year. I think Sproles was the most under used player last year. I would have given him the ball a lot more than he got. Even with Murrey and possibly Matthews, I want to see Sproles touches increased a tad. Id' like to see a lot more 2 RB sets as well, especially considering they are both receiving weapons.

We weren't cash strapped. McCoy was traded because he dances too much, doesn't hit the hole hard, falls down when someone breathes on him and was a bit of a diva.

If he wasn't a Diva, he still wouldn't be worth his contract. It was extremely frustrating watching McCoy last year -- dancing and falling down with barely any contact.

I went to 2 games last year and saw it in person. I was really amazed to watch McCoy hit a wall.. continuously.. given 5 or 6 tries... thinking DAMN the defense is stuffing the run. Then 1 handoff to sproles and boom 15 yards, just hitting the hole with speed. I agree about the dancing too much last year. I disagree with the falling down part - he did that early on, but has really learned to have better balance and rarely goes down on first contact. I'm not going to pile on the guy with things that I feel are untrue. I think swat is right, that Chip is just more of a hardass, and the Reid guys that are use to someone being more a player's coach, complain more. And no matter who you are - Chip is going to send you packing to send a message to the team. And as hard as he works his players during the season, its probably going to be common that vets are not going to work that hard because they have never had to. I think the Diva aspect is the primary aspect - given how he reacted to Djax who was still performing very well. I don't think it's the money given what we have now spent on 2 RB's. I think the dancing and lack of production and money is just an excuse, but supported the call. It's just my opinion tho.

Mathews tweeted that he is going back to San Diego and packing and getting out of there. He wants to get back here ASAP!!! He also said this is a RB's dream to play in. He is very excited to be working with Chip.

Good stuff!! I am so excited right now! It is great with the Eagles basically the entire NFL news. The last time I was this excited, we signed Owens and Kearse and we know what happened then. Awesome Day!!

I feel much better with the Murray signing. As long as Sanchez stays healthy, we might be OK. I just don't see Bradford avoiding more problems with his double ACL reconstructs on the same knee. But who knows. I hope it works out by August with 12 mos of rehab.
