Raw? He dominated the NCAA tourney like nobody has since Carmelo. Call him raw all you want, but there haven't been many in the history of the NCAA who dominated like him. And they very well might have lost to UNC had Kendall Marshall not broken his wrist. So that dominant team easily could have been challenged, but this team with nobody like Davis is just light years better than every other team and can't be challenged?

I said in my post that it's unlikely anyone beats you. But to think that you won't be challenged is utter nonsense, the type of thinking that only a UK fan could come up with.

Last year, when I KNEW we were the best team with a healthy Brash, I never thought "there's no chance we could lose". I just knew that our best was better than any other team's best.

This year, your best is better than anybody else's. But your best is heavily reliant on FRESHMAN, and if you think that's a small thing in March then you're smoking some good shit.

To be clear, I'm addressing the Davis raw comment but mostly talking to UK Cowboy

Davis was just a few years removed from playing PG. He did not have a developed offensive game. He averaged 14 pts on the season. He had exactly 0 20 pt games in the tourney. Scored 6 pts in the finals. He failed to score in double digits in 20% of his games. Not sure how you think that is the stat line of a kid that came in a dominated. Defensively he was a monster, because of his natural abilities, but he was not the player then that he is now

I don't think there's any question Kentucky fans are getting a little ahead of themselves, but that's what fans do so it doesn't bother me at all. It would be hard not to, especially with the media constantly slobbering over them.

As for the comments on Arizona v Kentucky... you're just proving DC's original point about being cocky. Your assessment of Arizona is as near-sighted as your assessment of Kentucky is far-sighted.

IMO, November didn't tell us much about Kentucky, since we know even less about Kansas... December will change all that, though.

Correct. November is about catching glimpses of the potential. That is what people have seen on Kentucky. It is easy to say UK is the prohibitive favorite right now, because even Stevie Wonder can see the potential. March is about winning and realizing that potential. It remains to seen, if that will happen

I don't think Kentucky is going to make it through the NCAA as easily and handily as most people are thinking.

Yes, they have depth. Yes, they have a lot of talent. But I've yet to see someone on the team that can just take over scoring. Booker is the closest to it, but he's not even on the main platoon. The platoon system won't make it to the championship.

I do believe that Kentucky can make it, but the platoon system isn't going to work. It'll be cool if it does work, so hopefully Kentucky proves me wrong, but I don't think they're going to.

I highly doubt the platoon system will last the whole season. Calipari will shorten the rotation. It's a great way to develop and manage expectations right now, but I would not be shocked to see 7-8 kids see meaningful time if UK gets deep in the tourney

Oh, great you are basing your assessment of his domination on his scoring.

You just lost all credibility

He didn't lose any credibility and that's not what he said. You're just gripping because Zona has a longer way to go than UK

Your reading comprehension is not very good. That's literally what he said.

You did say Davis dominated the tourney like nobody since Carmelo. I did not realize you meant Carmelo's defense. I said his game was raw and he was a monster on defense. If you see this as your way to backtrack on your words, roll with it. Whatever makes you feel good

Freshman dominates tournament. All I meant. If you disagree that he dominated that tournament, you didn't watch it. If you think dominate automatically has to mean offense, that's on you. I didn't do any backtracking, of course now I'm not even sure if you know the meaning of that.

The interesting thing about UK this year is, to me, the fact that you need 4-5-6 guys to really have off nights.

Past 'legendary' teams always had those 2 guys, maybe even 3, that you needed to have off-nights in order to have a shot. This team easily doubles/triples that formula.

They'll struggle at times, all teams do. They are still young in a lot of areas, but have experience to add to that talent in other areas.

It certainly is going to be an interesting season for them, that is for sure. Can the run the table? It wouldn't surprise me at all.

I just stopped by to say to all those I knew from cBS (and all UK fans, too), I hope all y'all are having a great holiday weekend. As always, sending out special hellos to my favorite 'Cuse fan, jonvi, and my favorite fan of unnamed team, Trolly. Has anyone figured out, yet, for which team Trolly roots???

As far as the Cats go, man, oh, man, this is an exciting team. I'm not accustomed to seeing one of Cal's teams playing team-ball this early in the season; it has tended to be still more of a collection of individuals. I think the team will certainly stumble, and there's no question they will be tested, but the ingredients are all present for a great season.

Go Cats!!!

I think by tournament time, Cal will be going with specific 5 man units, depending on the opponent and our advantage. If the opposition is weaker in the half court, pound it in to DJ and Lyles and keep shooters like Booker and Aaron in with Ulis. If we want to lock someone up, go with the Twins, Poy, Lee and WCS. If we need points, maybe the Twins, Booker, Lyles and KAT. No doubt Cal will have them hitting all cylinders come March

I'll certainly be interested to see the combinations Cal comes up with against different teams. I'm particularly interested in what he does with Ulis. I think he has the potential to stump a lot of teams, much like how Devan Downey did when he played for the Gamecocks. The Cats have such great size, but then there's this really talented, unusually small player who could just give other teams fits.

I think the Cats will mix in some 3 guard looks. Everyone knew KAT and Lyles were the real deal coming in, but I think Ulis and Booker being better than we could have hoped for has really set us up to be great

I try very hard not to buy into the hype...try to let my eyes determine what I think...so I was reserving my "judgement" of our incoming freshmen, until I got to see them play. So far, I'm really happy with what I'm seeing, or starting to see, out of all of them.
I think one of the intangibles that could really serve the team moving forward, is the experience of our sophomores and juniors. As we all know, the Cats struggled for much of the season, last year. I think those lessons will translate well, and help the freshmen, immensely. More than that, I think the experience of knowing what it's like to be on a team which loses in the first round of the NIT, then being on a team which struggles all season, but then makes it to the Championship game will lend such perspective.

I think Cal could use the platoon all season because, in the end. Even if they lose a few games, they are still likely a 1 seed. The thing that could change things is how talented Offensively DJ, KAT and Lyles are. I could see WCS, Lee and Poy losing time to the other three as the season goes on and being used as a defensive bomb squad. On a lot of teams, DJ, Lyles and KAT could easily be 20-10 guys IMO

I was happy with a 20 point win over a 6-0 Providence team. I thought Seth Greenberg made a great point, the Friars had the #3 scorer in the country at 24 points a game. But at 6'6'', he was going against an athletic 7' in WCS who locked him up and shut him down completely. Defense is looking awesome
