Donald had good week at the Senior Bowl but IMO Jernigan looks nastier, quicker, stronger and is the better hand-fighter.

He's also a little bigger than Donald but not much.

I don't like Hageman.

Just watched some game film on Hageman vs Mich. IDK...good size, quick feet, but he got man handled 1on1 on a ton of plays and got blown off the ball on a few that lead to big runs. Not over all impressed for a DL, esp the type we need to play in BB system. You have to be able to take the double team and hold it. I think if we are looking to replace Vince, well, there is no Vince in this draft.

I try hard not to get to ga-ga about college players, but I'm drooling over Jace Amaro TE Texas Tech. This guy broke every school record for passes caught, Yardage and TDs by a TE. In the Senior Bowl he caught 10 or 11 passes for 112 yards. He big 6'5" 265 lbs and can run like Aaron Hernandez. If I could torture BB, I'd force him to take this guy. A somewhat healthy Gronkowski on one side and Amaro on the other or in motion would be the Bomb.

He looks good and like a player that will rise to me. Right now CBS has him @ 42 overall so he should be within the Pats reach.

He was a flash and crash player from what I saw and heard at the Senior Bowl...good one minute and meh the next. That's basically what Daniel Jeremiah said when he evaluated him and he used to scout for the Eagles, Browns and Ravens.

So I took the top 4 DT that we seem to talk about in terms of NE. I looked at game film, not highlights, and this is what I came up with. Just my 2 cents. This is in terms of what the Pats need for a DT. Not for the rest of the NFL. If ya got time, check out the videos...

1- Jernigan. Good size. 6-2, 298. Very quick feet, controls the 1on1's, he can take the double team and has very good instincts. Plays with a high motor and his level of competition is better than some.

2- Nix. Biggest DT of these guys,6'2 345. This is your typical BB DT. He eats the double better than anyone, collapses the pocket when he is 1on1, forces QB's to have to move. Has good feet for his size. This is type of guy BB wants. Eat the double, hold you own and let your LB's make the plays. Should be #1, but not sure about his knee.

3- Donald. I question his size in the NFL, 6'0 285. I also question his level of competition he played against. Syracuse, North Carolina, New Mexico, UVA. You can def see the talent. Very explosive off the ball. Quick feet, awesome moves, runs well and is great tackler. Another high motor guy. Def going to be an interesting guy to watch.

Hey Eric - Out of all of the game tape that you watched on Hageman, this was the one game where they played their worst.

Hageman, according to this game tape, had issues keeping his pad level parallel and was turned far too many times even though he still had some spots where he got pressure behind the line of scrimmage in both running and passing situations.

With that said, he certainly did not play to this level in the remainder of his games. Michigan's oline was quite good this year and it showed against Minnesota.

This was first tape I have watched, and will certainly watch more. But comparing him to Nix vs Mich, which is why I watched those 2, Nix was far better IMO. I will def watch more game on him. I like his size. As I said, this is for BB type players, and I am not sure he fits. I will def watch more. I am also open to any other guys you might have listed. I think one of these 4 could be there at 29.

Yes. I think that was not he was not drafted, I think he was injured. I could be wrong.

Harrison had that incident at the combine in Indy where he and another player trashed a hotel room. That dropped him out of the 2013 draft and then, in tryouts, it was found he had a broken bone in his foot. That's how the Pats got him and placed him first on PUP and than on IR. I am also interested in seeing how his size and athleticism translates to the pros. With him and a healthy Dobson, TB would have two big targets in the red zone. Both receivers also have good speed.

I feel the Pats' needs, in no particular order, are a big, nasty O Lineman (either G or C); a pass catching, blocking TE; a solid WR; another DE to match with Jones for QB pressures; a young Nose Tackle type to learn under Wilfork; and a Strong Safety. For the OL, I hope BB makes a play for Alex Mack from Cleveland. He is a solid Center and has been stuck on a team with no chance to make the playoffs. With Mack, Connolly and/or Wendell would be expendable. There are very good TE's in the draft. I can see either Jace Amaro or Austin Serafin Jenkins. Put one of them alongside Gronk, when he gets back up to full speed, and the Tight End area is set. Then cut Williams and Mulligan. Keep Hooman as a blocker. The Pats haven't had a true #1 WR (someone who the other team needs to plan defenses for and also has great speed) since Randy Moss. Maybe Eric Decker. Maybe a rookie like Kelvin Benjamin. At DE, someone in the draft like Kareem Martin or Trent Murphy. Developmental Nose Tackle could be filled, hopefully, by Siliga. At Strong Safety, Donte Whitner (49er's) and Chris Clemons (Phins) are free agents. Getting Clemons has the added benefit of depleting a division opponent. There are a lot of good players coming off IR in 2014. Hopefully, several of them will be contributors. Miguel has already indicated that, if they cut several fringe players and restructure and extend or renew contracts in a cap friendly way, the Pats could free up as much as $20M in cap space. BB had poor luck with free agent signings in 2013 (Amendola, Kelly, Wilson and Washington). Hopefully, the pickings this year will be better.
