Fun fact: for the money we are paying Lincecum, Cain, and Zito to suck this year, we could have the entire A's roster and a .589 winning percentage.

Yes I'm aware that's not how it works. Just sayin'.

And you have little to no insight as to where in that gap SabeySabes fell.

Never said I did. Just went off of Indians reporters and other baseball reporters and made my own opinion. Everyone has their own including yourself and we are all entitled to it. Not going to get into personal attacks

Who's attacking? I merely stated a fact. Didn't say you weren't entitled to an opinion, merely commenting on how uninformed it is.

A player who makes more than the entire Astros roster could be banned from baseball for life.

:agree:

So much talent that kid had coming up, and such a dick.
Then again, when you are that lauded that young you are bound to be kind of messed up by it.
Call it the Justin Bieber effect. Or perhaps the Michael Jackson effect.

Which is why I usually roll my eyes when some guy we want to get says he would love to play here and we get all excited. Unless you're a FA it don't matter whose posters you had on your wall as a kid. And even then it matters a really really small amount.

We weren't buyers this year, so we weren't getting him.

I am happy for Baltimore. As thoughts of playoffs this year for us slipped away I started thinking about who I hope gets to the WS this year. I think for me I'll be rooting for Baltimore, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. Let those that have suffered plenty like we did get a taste. And please no Cards, Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers (of course), Rangers...

I know it's not popular here but by gum I am happy for the A's and hope they can do well also, with that payroll.

Bucs and O's or Reds and O's

The 70's live!

ONLY as a reliever. We can't have him pitching only 4-5 innings a game as a starter.

I think we could get 5-6 innings per outing out of him for another year maybe two, but it all comes down to money and how the rest of the rotation shakes out with Zito, Voges

But the Indians were reportedly still in talks to the last minute. If the Giants had "Salazar or bust", why would they have continued to talk?

I suspect Salazar was just the opening salvo.

They also got a real good idea what the market is for Lopez now, so they will know how to progress in contract talks in a couple months.

But the Spanks should not be bailed out of that contract. They should still be on the hook for it. The money should go into a veterans fund, or something like that.

We've got to re-sign JLo...all we need is another SP and an OF.

I myself am very suprised the Giants made no moves today. But, I could say that also about 5-10 other teams. IMO, this was one of the most boring trade deadline days in recent memory.

I hate to pantshat, but I see JLo as hugely valuable on a serious contender. On an average team, he is wildly overpaid, IMO.

I fear that next year he will be wildly overpaid if he stays with us.

I see a couple more holes.

We only have Pagan as a legit OF next year signed, so we need 2 more. Blanco ain't it.

SP: Cain and Bum are the only guys signed for 2014 right? So we really need to get 3 signed, even if 2 of them are Vogelsong and Gaudin. And I'm still not sure Vogelsong isn't done.

And by god we need a different backup catcher. If Posey makes Belt sit once a week, we need SOMETHING from that slot.

Soooo, you don't see us as contenders next year? Yep, that's kind of shatty.
