Who will the NJ Devils draft?

Marty cant play 70 games a season anymore..if its 50-30 next season I think that would be a great split.

And now instead of uncertainty when Marty retires with Frazee , Wedgewood , Kinkaid and whoever else we now have an established and experience goalie to take over who's only 27.

Im reading that Vancouver shopped him around asking for a 1st a 2nd and a player back..I think Lou made a steal here.

Would you rather be left with our dick in our hands if Marty's play completely falls off this year and we have nobody to replace him? Then we would hear everyone bitching about why Lou didn't get a goalie to replace him.

Not me. Id have rolled the dice with what we have in the system and free agency.

i see an even split this year and then marty takes a 1 year deal and its 80/20 next year in games played. that being said what are we going to do next year? we have to sit through this UFA bullshit again?

its a huge gamble #9 in a draft should be a franchise player. unless they lock corey up long term this could be a mistake

i'm fine with the move hes a legit #1 goalie. but he has to get the playing time and he has to get signed to a long term deal

I understand the UFA concern..hopefully Lou has a contract ready for him already.

Chances are if things go as planned and Marty retires after this season , Schneider wont turn down a starting job with the Devils to go somewhere else.

playing the advocate here, no one would've thought a trade like the 9 straight up for Corey couldve been made....

I expect Corey to see time and if he's playing well, well maybe a little more? its really the 9th overall for a backup ATM but hopefully we resign him to the end of his career... he's 27 already though... oh well.

i never even heard of bo havart in any of the mocks in the top 10. so i dont know who he is.


27 is young for a goalie. his stat line is incredible so i would expect him to be key for another 10 years. playing backup those years in vancouver probably added to his career length.

for this deal to make sense they need to resign him i really dont want this drama again next year.

That's really my problem with it. The franchise has a much more pressing need with forward depth. Number 9 you could get a first line talent. Tough to stomach passing that up.

Ryan is still a name that could be moved , probably for a kings ransom though...But Id hope Lou is atleast kicking the tires on him and maybe Thomas Vanek too. I'll be shocked if he's still with Buffalo come opening night.

Yeah, been chatter on vanek for several weeks now. Would love to get him on the roster

Vanek would solve a lot of issues here. Big natural scorer..someone before mentioned trading away Larsson for the right player , well he's a player Id trade him for.

He's another one with an expiring contract too though.
