This is bullshit, right?

You got punk’d lol.

Gonna have make a lot changes after giving up picks and spending $30M/year on him. They won 2 SB’s without Hill, a stud on his rookie contract, their HOF TE and some guys. No reason for KC to trade for him.

Their goal- keep protecting Mahomes and keep that elite defense intact as well as possible

Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said the idea of trading contract-year WR Justin Jefferson is “not something that has once crossed my mind.”
“You’ve got a blue (chip) player, blue (chip) person,” Adofo-Mensah said. “You try and keep as many of those as you can.” It’s unsurprising rhetoric even though the sides have been at extension loggerheads for a year now. Adofo-Mensah’s denial probably won’t completely quash Jefferson trade rumors, especially if he remains unsigned beyond 2024 when the draft rolls around. But the most likely outcome for an elite player like Jefferson is staying put at a premium with the team that drafted him.

Personally I don't buy into any of the JJ rumors.

However, it's not a hard sell to connect the dots of possibility on it.

If they re-sign Cousins, obviously JJ has to stay. Why we sign Cousins of your not all in for 2024?

If they don't, why wouldn't you be open to that possibility? You're not beating Detriot, GB, maybe even Chicago, with another year of has beens or never will be's at QB, and they aren't in position to get one of the "can't miss" prospects- and even if they were, do we really think any of those 'can't miss' guys can lead a team to the playoffs in year one? Sure Stroud just did it, but we're talking few and far between of instances where that's the case.

I can see the logic behind the rumors, but yea, be truly shocked to see it happen. And even more so if it was the Cheifs. They don't need the best WR in the NFL, they just need a better than mediocre WR.

The vikings don't have the luxury of playing in the afc south

I fully expect vikings will give Jefferson another contract. Might not play it all the way thru in Minnesota but if they let him go I'd imagine we'll be debating which was worse, that or trading all those picks to the cowboys 35yrs ago

Oh I fully expect that same thing, I just get where the whispers are connecting the dots is all.

As to that trade..I do believe Viking fans can officially thank the Broncos for taking the 'worst trade in NFL history' baton.

Their current starting left tackle, current starting OLB/edge, a current starting CB, and another current rotational OLB/edge, as well as their backup QB, and a co#1 TE (both currently set for free agency this year), and a DE who started in 2022 and then moved on in '23, -as well as two dudes who didn't amount to much, all for RW. The only thing missing is 3 out of 4 Super Bowl titles as a result, and who knows, maybe they get there, most of those dudes will be around for years to come..

And a side note..the way the Cowboys are currently run, they'd be the dance partner for a Double J trade out of Minnesota, the thought of paring Lamb with JJ? Ol' Jerra couldn't say yes fast enough, and he might not even survive the thought of it

Ok... I can't copy and paste the damn tweet, but it said Barkley wants to go to Houston.

I can imagine. Great weapons all around him and he would be handed the starting spot. Most needy RB team that made the playoffs

After watching a few games with Dameon Pierce last season, I'd imagine they want Barkley too
giving those 150 touches to Singletary instead would've helped, but yeah, Barkley is still a huge upgrade.

And that'd really complete that offense with Stroud, Collins, Dell, and a decent Oline- that'd be fun to watch, gotta be honest

  • Vikings informed RB Alexander Mattison of his release.
As the Minneapolis Star-Tribune’s Andrew Krammer points out, the Vikings are eating almost $3 million in guaranteed money while saving just $600,000 against the cap. It’s an admission Mattison’s two-year deal was a mistake as the Vikes attempted to move on from Dalvin Cook. The move was first-guessed last spring, and Mattison responded with continued inefficiency both as a rusher and pass catcher. He simply isn’t a starting-level back, though he is versatile enough that he should still command interest as a backup. Guaranteed money might be difficult to come by in a glutted market, however. Ty Chandler is the No. 1 back on the Vikings’ current 90-man roster, but they should add at least 1-2 potential competitors.

Would’ve been hard for him to do less with the opportunity handed to him.

Wonder what his split stats are when Cousins was QB?
Well, he had no rushing TDs with or without Kirky last year.

Two TD receptions with, one without.

His two highest yardage totals were with Cousins. I remember some bad drops during that time too.

Joe asking, not answering, a stat question? What's the world coming to

Cousins played the first 8 games,
Mattison played all 8 of those, and 8 others, missing week 15.

W Cousins-
8 games, 106 carries, 390 yds, 3.679 yds a carry, 48.75 per game

W/O cousins-
8 games, 74 carries, 310 yds, 4.189 per carry, 38.75 per game.

It's worth noting that after returning from missing the week 15 game, Mattison had a grand total of 12 carries in 3 games, thus throwing off the per game numbers greatly.

It's debatable, but on a per carry basis, he did slightly better without him

Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reports Mike Evans’ agent, Deryk Gilmore, said Evans “wants to play with an elite quarterback in an offense that will showcase him.”
In addition to wanting to play with an “elite quarterback,” Evans’ agent also said he wants to be “paid like a top wide receiver” and he “doesn’t want to play with a rookie QB

well, welcome to KC, or maybe Buffalo if they get rid of Diggs.. those are only places you'll find elite QB's as far as an offense that can showcase him

The other 'elite' QB's, Lamar- that offense features Lamaar because he can't showcase a WR, and Hurts- kind features Hurts as well, but with AJ Brown and D. Smith both being younger, they aren't likely trading one of them out for a 31 year old WR to lead the team. Same applies to Burrows with Chase and franchise tagged Higgins.

The next step down?

Maybe he thinks Stroud is elite or will be very soon, but they're set with WR's too. Same with Tua and Hill/Waddle, There's Herbert, but they're still stuck with two massive contracts at WR. Dak and the Cowboys, could easily let Gallup and/or Cook walk but they're showcasing Lamb no matter what. Stafford and the Niners- Stafford is no longer in that category, even if he was, they've got Kupp and Nacua, no need for Evans.
Don't know where Cousins end up, but most likely the Vikes, where there's JJ..I guess they could make a nice tandem, but will Cousins be there, and willbhe still be better than average after his injuries at his age?

And now we're getting pretty far removed from "elite", but..
Purdy and the Niners? Set with Deebo and Aiyuk
Goff and the Lions? Set and with Sun God and Jameson Williams, not to mention LaPorta

Love, Feilds, Lawrence, Carr, Mayfeild?? These can't be the level of dudes that Evans could be referring to, can they?
