Skins line 1, raiders line 2. Do we need 3?$20M+ cap hit and he needs to fit into the right scheme. Who wants him + giving up assets
Raiders seem like the desperate choiceSkins line 1, raiders line 2. Do we need 3?
He would be awesome....Skins line 1, raiders line 2. Do we need 3?
The cap problem is with Philly because of how Howie structured it. A new team gets a good pass rusher for one year at $18M. That's pretty marketable if the draft compensation isn't all that much. If he plays out the string in Philly however, it's one year left at a total of $36M in cap hit because all of the dead money still yet to hit the cap.Reddick is a great pass rusher who has some scheme limitations. I doubt anyone trades for him because of the cost involved, picks as well as cap space.
He will restructure in order to get more up front money. My guess is that he gets something like 3 years 60-70 million so like a 2 year extension. The cap problem is with Philly because of how Howie structured it. It’s unlikely they trade him. You’re never getting value back for a player of his magnitude. He wanted a new deal before the start of this past season, and didn't get it. So this has been simmering a while.
He did clearly outplay his contract and is a top 5 pass rusher in the NFL in terms of sacks. On the other hand, I do think his scheme limitations are an issue. He's basically just a pure pass rushing specialist. He is a liability in coverage and in the Fangio scheme, he is an outside LB in a hybrid scheme who gets a little predictable when he rushes every down and the defensive alignment can be exploited IMO.
So I can see the Eagles trading him unfortunately if a good deal came along.
They really can’t afford to. He’s pretty much the only established edge they have moving to a 3-4 from a 4-3 scheme. The other starting DE from last year fits the 3-4 better as a 5 tech than he does an OLB in Sweat. This seems like a contract ploy to get a better one. I don't see them letting him leave Philly.
He only cost money. Any pick you get for him is an extra get. This is how you can use free agency to manipulate your assets. Howie is a genius. It’s unlikely they trade him. You’re never getting value back for a player of his magnitude.
This is a renegotiation. Reddick will get an extension that takes him through 2026
That’s a silly projection. Most teams salary structure isn’t going to entail paying a LB 10-12 million per year. The Eagles blue print is pretty well established. They pay pass rushers. They have little waiting in the wings and will have to pay them. This exact tactic was used last year with the same exact wording from Ian Rapport for Darius Slay who resigned with the Eagles. Roseman likely offered a new contract and he’s balking at the numbers. This is Roseman saying “Don’t believe me on your market? Go see what it is and then we can talk again”.Remember a lot of Bears fans saying similar with Roquan....Sometimes we have a bead as fans...Sometimes not.
