Logically, if wanting JPM to start in place of Leody is making Leody our whipping boy, then to want Leody to start over JPM is making JPM your whipping boy.

I can promise you, I have never once wanted Leidy to make an out. Not once.

Not sure anyone that I've heard has either.

I don't doubt if given the opportunity that Leody will have another hot streak, ala Roogie. I also have come to expect some very long dry spells, ala Roogie.

This game is just a repeat of so many lately (last night’s not included). Rangers starting pitcher has 1 shaky inning and allows 3 or so runs but otherwise minimizes the damage. Scherzer did it. Dunning did it. Gray has done it. And then the offense does nothing to back them up.

We haven’t had a really bad start from a pitcher in quite some time… maybe Heaney’s. But even the “bad” games from our starters have been at least decent enough to keep us in the game and within reach. Like tonight. Gray isn’t his best, clearly. And he had the one bad inning. But he hasn’t allowed it to get out of control. If we had any offense at all… literally any offense… we could still win this game. 3-0 is nothing in today’s MLB.

The only thing keeping us from winning is lack of hitting. Why?

We need to start hitting some more HRs.

That would certainly help. Those have dried up almost entirely. We’re averaging fewer than 1HR per game over the last week.

Should be given a legitimate shot at being the 2024 DH.

Maybe use someone up and then send them to AAA.

Why Anderson?

Never been an EG fan, but once in a blue moon he accidentally posts the right take. And this one is spot on. It’s quite noticeable how many of our guys strike out on 4 seam fastballs right down the middle. Garcia does it a LOT. So does Lowe. So does Taveras. Duran and Jung struggle on breaking stuff. But a lot of our hitters just flat-out miss hittable fastballs.

Also, pay attention to just how many of our hitters start off at-bats down 0-2. We simply do not get ahead in counts often enough. We miss fastballs right down the gut or foul them off. Throw in another foul ball or a taken strike, and it’s 0-2 again.

Jankowski, flaws and all, is one of our few hitters who works counts. He doesn’t get hits like we need him to, but at least he battles.
