I don’t see them winning the division - the question is can they be one of the three wild cards out of the remaining 12 teams. They’ll get a soft schedule this year. If RW gets on track they should be right in there.
Well that's the thing, in that division, you have to be at least favored to be better than the Chargers/Raiders to have realistic playoff aspirations. You know you're not better than the Cheifs. But are you the #2 team? As it stands right now..that answer is no to the Chargers, and at best, a maybe to the Raiders. If you're not expecting to be the second best team among those 4, you're just not in WC contention. They've got a long ways to go

Jeudy is a good receiver and the demise of Wilson is slightly overblown. Pff had him about as good as Cousins last year iirc.

It's just that I'm not sure the Broncos offensive talent as a whole is in a good spot. Do they get Patrick back?
RW being ranked about as good as Cousins? That IS demise. Dude used to be right on the edge of elite. Being slotted in with guys riding the edge of a legit starter with one foot in the journeyman/bridge guy tier, I'd say that's legit demise

You can make it as the #3 team, too, like the Giants did. Anybody over .500 is in wild card contention these days.

I dunno..the current makeup of the AFC...if a division gets 3, it's more likely the East or the North, just simply better football being played top to bottom over there
Only reason the Gmen got in is becuase no one wanted it win the South. AFC doesn't have a division like that.

Thats fair but Denver in theory should be able to carry a borderline starter into the playoffs. There is something else going wrong. Maybe variance. Maybe talent.

There's alot wrong there. Eviro guided that bad of misfits on defense to an other worldly performance defensively, even after trading Chubb. There's little reason to expect him being back, hes getting serious looks as a HC, and his best freind Hackett, just got fired from there. He could go virtually anywhere he wants, so a lot depends on who they replace him with and if that guy is some sort of savant at getting plus production from borderline defensive talent. Outside of the safeties, and a corner, they're marginal at best everywhere else. The line hasn't been fixed since before P. Manning retired, they've got a WR room with 3 #2's (assuming Patrick comes back %100

Denver last year had the lowest third down conversion rate for a team since the 2019 Washington team with ...Case Keenum and a rookie Dwayne Haskins at QB. I don't love the talent on the Broncos offense (although I do think Jeudy is a #1 on at least a few teams) but they were almost certainly the worst coached offense in the league.

Going into last season, I figured the Chiefs were going to be a 5th-6th seed type of team. Mahomes stepped up but...man...the coaching in the AFC West was atrocious. Chargers OC, Raiders head coach, Denvers head coach. Just kinda embarrassing.

Somehow..half this message got cut off-

J. Williams, is he back where he was, is what he was good enough? Just how broke is RW, does he still have IT? is Sean Payton really that good pr was it more HOF'er Brees running his O, can he pull 'it' out of RW

well one way shape or form, I just think expectations in Denver need to be managed. To me, the move has more of a feel of him being brought in to gut and rebuild that team rather than take this version of the Broncos anywhere. That's why it was a #1 this year, and a 2 next year, and not a package including the '24 #1 like New Orleans wanted (allegedly -as reported by the local yocals that's what they wanted)

And changing topics..

Since no one has mentioned it yet, I assume no one else is totally buying into the most recent Brady retirement announcement?

I am. It's not like Gisele is pushing him this time. It's also just not that interesting any more.

Unless you're Geno Smith, cuz the market for your services just got a little hotter.

I'm buying.
Ego could convince a player of many things, but some of the greats know when they're done.

I think he's done this time, but I think we also all already made our comments last year, so let me see what I can dig up.

Lions are screaming up my personal power rankings of NFL teams that are easy to root for. The Dan Campbell sound bites (pun intended) were funny and entertaining, but the more they peeled back the layers this season via interviews and such, I really want him to succeed as a HC.

So apparently we didn't really care about Brady retiring last year either, this is all I found on this thread:

I know there was hints, but I'm still shocked.

Tom Brady

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Tom Brady is retiring from the NFL after 22 seasons.

Good riddance

I’d like him to make zero in game decisions. He loses games by thinking.

Well that's a little misleading. They list Percy Harvin as the Seahawks leading rusher because he did lead them in rushing in the Super Bowl, but Lynch was their running back and he made $7.5 million, although it certainly goes along with the trend of the NFL right now and devaluing running backs as much as possible. Regardless of who wins this year and leads their team in rushing, they won't be adding much to those figures either.
