May have to trade a few guys though just to clear room for the 40 man and extra additions.

They may decide to do that, but as I showed a few days ago, that isn't necessary.

Duran, Harris, Roby and Vanasco would be a nice trade package I would be ok parting ways with for a good pitcher.

I would not do that for a shorter term pitcher. Give me a guy under control for 5 or 6 years and I am willing to deal. I would not trade those guys for pitchers that are only under control for 2 or 3 years. Losing a WC series isn't worth keeping us from possibly being the best team in baseball at some point, to me.

Zavala and Carter will have room in the OF imo even with the addition of Benintendi

I think over the last half of 2023 that either Duran or Smith could put up similar numbers to what Benintendi will put up. Longer term, I think both will have as good or better careers than Benintendi.

If they don't produce then we still have Harris, and maybe Foscue learns LF. Also, Zavala might be ready to come up in the second half. We have a lot of internal options including some I didn't mention.

If they want a one year rental no big deal but that is an afterthought in my book

The only starting pitcher they traded a prospect for was their 6th best one, Kyle Gibson. I will be glad to do the same and trade Howard for another Kyle Gibson.

They did trade a veteran for a prospect pitcher.

Yes, let's do what the Phillies have done. Let's develop prospect pitchers and let's develop or sign some .800 plus OPS hitters. I am all for that. That sounds like a plan.

To me, the "anything can happen" mantra is for teams who do not know how to do it right. It is like foregoing college and playing the lottery instead.

Lol. A whole lot more can happen when you have a very good team. And they provide a good pattern on how to build such a team.

To me, the "anything can happen" mantra is for teams who do not know how to do it right. It is like foregoing college and playing the lottery instead.

There are lots of teams who "did it right" that are watching the postseason on TV right now.

There's a template you can follow to give a team the best chance to win a championship, but October baseball is a horse of a different color.

We need at least 3 or 4 much better bats than we had this year, even with better pitching.

We are simply not going to a World Series in 2023. It has never been about 2023 anyway. The owner does want to have a much better record next year, but even he doesn't think we will get to a WS in 2023.
