Maybe not supposed to be our year, but Oregon missing out the year that Miami beat Florida State and Washington beat Miami. I think Oregon had one loss also. Joey Harrington.

2016 felt like it until the Iowa game. Felt like we had the OSU game too until the offense stopped moving the ball in the 2nd half.

I'd also throw in 2006 when the wheels fell off against OSU and USC.

Oregon would have been bitchslapped. Beating CU was nice.

Uh 1941 I guess. Those early AP polls were full of fuckery, hell I'm still not sure how Minnesota won the natty with an 8-2 record in 1960.

2015 for sure. Probably in the top 3 among most talented teams all-time that didn't win the NC. The amount of not only future NFL players, but future NFL studs, on that team makes me sad. Fucking Tim Beck.

Also putting 1998 in here. Came off a major Rose Bowl win in 1997 then #1 all year in 1998 until the late season upset loss to Michigan State.

But it just fell apart, I mean the wheels just came off?

Virginia Tech 2002. Beating LSU and winning at Texas A&M and no losses until losing four out of the last five ranks up there for me. Too many Michigan ones to list.

1994. That team was more talented than our 95 team that played for a national title and at least as talented as our 96 team that won a national title. We went 10-2-1 in 94 and had no business being anything but 13-0.

1985 we lost to a vastly inferior UGA team - our only loss of the season. We also tied Rutgers because our coach put in the backup QB once we got “safely” ahead and he immediately turned it over 4-5 times in a row.

1987 & 1988 Auburn - If Auburn had won the recruiting battle for Emmitt Smith we win the national championship back to back.

phew! Thank goodness that didn’t happen. A Florida boy belongs in Florida.

2000. Returned everyone but Chris Samuels and Shaun Alexander off an SEC Championship team the year before.

Preseason #3 and returned the first punt for a TD and it was all downhill from there. Went 3-8 and Mike Dubose got fired. So frustrating.

To make it all worse we lost to the UCFaggots

Oklahoma's BIGGEST FLOP EVER was the 1977 team that had 4 All-Americans on defense. We also had Blevins, Peacock, etc. on offense plus the great Uwe von Schmann as our kicker. OU was loaded. We were #2 going into the 1978 Orange Bowl. #1 Texas was upset by Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl earlier that day and OU only had to beat an Arkansas team that was in turmoil when Lou Holtz had kicked off 3 of their best players the day before the game. OU went up to a 20 point favorite and the table was set for another National Championship. Then OU came out flat and got clown stomped 31-6. It was absolutely horrible to watch. This was the beginning of the end for Switzer coaching in a good relationship with Galen Hall (Offensive Coordinator) and Larry Lacewell (Defensive Coordinator). OU's had some bad losses since then but nothing tops that blown opportunity for a National Championship.

You can never “just fall apart” if no year is ever “supposed to be your year”.

Supposed to be was in the title.

2014 was the most talented team of the Mark Richt era. But he choked and we lost the SEC East to a team we beat 34-0 in their stadium.
You guys lost 3 games in 2014, including two games to unranked teams that finished the year a combined 14-11. How was that your "supposed" to be year?

Because they were supposed to be good before the season began but they ended up being not as good.
