The committee can't admit a mistake.
What about staying in the top 5 after being boat-raced.
Posted this earlier, but I think it applies. I think they put Oregon at 6 as opposed to 5 so there wouldn’t be any argument over bias among the committee. Since it’s not like there is any difference between 5/6.

I agree, they and Wisconsin should be in the teens....although Florida hasn't lost to a team outside the top 12...so maybe low teens for them.
Florida beat 1 team in the Top 25, Wisconsin beat 3

I really wonder what would have happened if Wisconsin beat Ohio St. LSU, Clemson, and Oklahoma would still be in....

but Ohio St, Utah, and Baylor (the only teams ranked ahead of Wisconsin) would have lost.... so Wisconsin might have been able to be the first 2 loss team in the playoff had they beaten Ohio St

Or the committee could have still let Ohio St in at #4 acknowledging them as the only remaining 1 loss team.

Would have at least been an interesting conversation to see.

May have been a 3-way with Oklahoma

If you could argue Wisconsin above Ohio State, could you argue Oklahoma above either?

Well in my original statement, I was saying that hypothetically LSU, Clemson, and Oklahoma would be in for sure.

So then it comes down to a 1 loss Ohio St or a 2 loss Wisconsin team that just so happened to beat Ohio St recently.

Or technically, I guess an argument could be made for Oregon, but I think Wisconsin being ranked higher and having the better win would trump Oregon.

@cwerph

you don't think that would have been an interesting discussion?

I acknowledge Ohio St having 1 loss and still making the playoff a possibility. But losing late and losing the conference would have been an interesting conversation to have in my opinion.

I am not taking a side in Wisconsin or Ohio St either way in this hypothetical, I am just curious to hear what the committee would have to say about it all.

I missed Utah/Texas. Like I have said, Texas competes but can’t finish. So I think at the worst we can expect a competitive game.

Texas needed to play the Aggies. Then you would have seen a hell of a game.

I wanted Texas A&M to play Indiana instead of Tennessee to stir the shit here more, but T might work. (They could get messed up if September Tennessee shows up.)

Remaining in the top 25 after being boat-raced is hilarious.
Of the teams that just missed the top 25, who is clearly deserving of being in over Virginia?
