-First NLCS appearance for Washington.
-Rematch of a very intense 2012 NLDS where the Cardinals won Game 5 with a huge late inning comeback. Adam Wainwright was actually the pitcher in that Game 5 and Washington was all over him early.
-Stausburg didn't play in that NLDS. He is ready for this series but like Flaherty might be saved until Game 3.
-Cardinals have home field which means that we'll likely see Mikolas in Game 1 and Wainwright in game 2 because their home splits. Sanchez has been named the starter for Game 1 so I'd expect Scherzer in Game 2 although the Cardinals have played well against him this year.
-Max Scherzer is fairly popular in Missouri as he is (as far as I know) the only really good Mizzou baseball player.
-These two teams played a month ago as they were both trying to make the playoffs so they were meaningful games. I don't see either team getting surprised by anything here.
-Nationals playing from the Wild Card and beating the Dodgers late actually sounds more like the Cardinals than the team out of St Louis.
