Are the Vols even bowl eligible? I suppose you would know an inferior team when you see one you are a Vols fan after all.

No. The University of Tennessee is not bowl eligible. They weren't last year, either. Lost every SEC game they played. Hope that ain't all you got......

Defending champs. Not our fault the Gaytors, Okie light and the Dame Domers sucked that year. Miami too
No doubt you belonged in. But even though you were undefeated, many of those games were head scratchers against questionable competition.

Just stating that you are an expert on this topic
Not true. You're attempting to be clever. You aren't, though. I'm the furthest from clever, quick, funny, or even an expert. More like...........

If you would like to know exactly what I'm talking about, you'll need this link and about 15 minutes of reading.
That article makes the claim that the Colley Matrix (as well as ELO and RPI) methods are arbitrary and subjective, which is a load of hogwash. What they choice of the formula is to a large extent subjective, its application is anything but arbitrary, since the formula is applied uniformly across the data set.

In the case of RPI, the author claims that the model “lacks theoretical justification from a statistical standpoint”. However, the other than linking to another paper, the author does no statistical analysis on the results. This isn't a scientifically sound criticism, and in my oppinion, would not withstand the scrutiny of peer review. A more reasonable approach would be to look at the results and actually test the robustness (or lack thereof) of the assumptions made. The author fails to do this.

The fact that Colley relies on a particular assumption is insufficient criticism to lead one to conclude that the results are flawed. While it is possible that the quality of the results are dependent on the particular assumption made, there was no attempt to test whether or not changing the assumption would alter the results in any significant manner. The entire argument falls flat because the author fails to support the argument with actual data.

TLDR: This criticism of the Coley Matrix system is an example of crap analysis.

There is Alabama and Clemson. All other teams are a distant 3rd to them and that will show come playoff time. I will say this about Clemson that was a pretty pussy ass schedule they played.
Truth.

As much as I would love to see the Irish get butt lucky and get through to the final, I would argue that this is a year where a two-team tournament would have been fine. What Clemson and Alabama have done this year place them head and shoulders above the rest of the field.

I thought going to Blacksburg was a for sure loss. Shocked how bad they ended up being
I figured the same thing, but not because Notre Dame wasn't good enough. I figured Notre Dame would fall flat after beating Stanford and then having to go on the road.

Fortunately, it didn't play out that way.

It's Alabama then everybody else. If you watched USC/ND then you saw USC didn't care about anything except disrupting Notre Dame's playoff chances, USC did not care about winning. They just cared about causing chaos for Notre Dame. There is no way Clemson's defense would have sent 8 on a blitz and risk their chances like USC did when they had nothing to lose. Comparisons can't comply when nothings on the line. Notre Dame played flat, but USC had nothing to lose and they threw everything at them defensively.

Notre Dame tried to schedule an awesome schedule in 2018. When they scheduled Virginia Tech At Virginia Tech. They thought Virginia Tech was good. What was the thought process when Alabama scheduled Citadel in any year?

Notre dame can play with Clemson. One good thing Notre Dame has on their side that they didn't have in 2012, is Nick Saban didn't have 5 weeks to prepare for them. Brian Kelly can barely prepare week to week.

You decided to go with a logo for a league other than any college team on your favorite teams list. That tells me all I need to know about how seriously I need to take your opinion on college football.

OSU would fuck ND up just like they have every time they’ve met since 1936.

Book market, son.

Take a deep breath, Notre Dame didn't lose.......let that sink in, it sucks I know Ohio State might not make the playoffs that has more to do with them losing to Pursue than Notre Dame.

I also hope Georgia wins just to watch Ohio State fans whine about being left out.
