Just a quick additional note....FSU had 11 penalties for 124 yards against Clemson.
Tech's ranked #6 in the NCAA in Pass Efficiency Defense. Opposing QBs are completing 47% of their passes for an average of 5.7 ypc and a total of two TDs. They've given up 7 INTs.

In the Pass Defense category, Tech's ranked #32, but that stat is based entirely on passing yardage given up.
Love seeing the stats, but you have to admit we have given up quite a few big pass plays. (a few that come to mind are early against arky st, the one hosley forced the fumble on against marshall, one or 2 against ECU, Bonner late against marshall, etc etc etc). We cant give up those type of plays against Clemson IMO.
Speaking of Bud Foster, he's in his 25th year of coaching at Tech and has been the DC since 1996. He was also a full-time defensive coach at Murray State from 1983 through 1986, and followed Coach Beamer to Tech in 1987.
Clemson's OC, Chad Morris, is now in his 2nd year of coaching at the college level.
Does anyone besides me think Bud has some stuff up his sleeve that Morris has never seen or even imagined?
I almost didn't go to that game. My fiance didn't want to sit in the rain and her friends in the group weren't going but I decided to go anyways. Under armor, thermal, long sleeve t, t-shirt, maroon pull over jacket. I didn't get wet until the 4th and a lot of that was prolly sweat. The build up was awesome but the finish of the Neb game was the most exciting moment I had in Lane.
Miami in 09 and BC in 07 were two that I'll never forget because of the weather. Unfortunately I'd like to forget BC, and I tried to afterwards with several hottie totties at Awful Arthurs.
That's the type of defense Bud Foster has always run. More than likely a CB is going to be isolated one-on-one with a fast WR because we're blitzing and/or double-covering another receiver. We'll win a good number of those battles, and even pick off a few, but a few will result in long yardage or even a TD. Just the nature of the business.
We have solid corners so he can afford to be more aggressive so far this year.
Yes he could afford to be aggressive against the OOC teams but he wont be able to do that against clemson. If we continue to blitz (especially with the safeties) boyd will pick that apart, IMO we will try to play tight coverage and try to get the front 4 (especially collins and gayle) to the QB.
No way the Hokies can hang with the Tiger offense. Clemson by 2 TDs.*
*The opinions expressed in this post are not really those of 24seven or any other true Gamecock fan. He is simply trying to jinx Clemson into losing.
What I would really like to see is our guys moving around and disguising our coverages. I feel like we could take advantage of a couple rookie mistakes if our D is moving around confusing Boyd. Even if we don't do this, mixing in a healthy dose of blitzes with tight coverage will keep them honest.
