In one of the closing holes, Tiger was already 2 or 3 shots back but he pulls out an iron of the tee. He ended up needing over 200 yards to get home and the result was not good.

Even Johnny Miller said that was a mistake. Keeping the ball in play was a great strategy for Tiger but he has trust issues with his driver. It very well may have cost him another major by not pulling the driver a couple of more times.

.

Yep - well definitely on the last few holes when he needed to go for broke. Flip side of that is Spieth using a 3 wood on his 2nd shot on that par 5 & basically sealing his fate for the tourney.

A major loss for Tiger that will lead to a major win

A major loss for Tiger that will lead to a major win
ESPN's love for Tiger was never a secret. But now when you lose means you are going to win.

Tiger is playing at the highest levels of golf and he will win, he just has to stop shooting himself in the foot.

Tiger is playing well enough that ESPN does not have to spin everything single thing he does.

If you open the Yahoo sports page you will find the lead story on The Open is all about Tiger. Below that are 3 more articles about Tiger and you will have to go to the sidebar and look 3 headlines down to see any mention of Molinari :L

Ok, a few things.
First off.. Love the red stroller. Nice background contrast. Also, mum with the red and white. Easy to pick out on tv. Style points galore. Maybe the kid is a mini Dangerfield? A little trash throwin at Xander? Don't lay the sod on it X man.

On the serious side. Sure she looks like a clueless zombie on the golf course, but you have to blame the husband too.
Or the brother/uncle/etc. The person with the knowledge of the situation deserves the most responsibility. She is clueless. How many times do you see 4 players playing the tips, when only 1 or 2 deserve to even be there. Who do you blame? Not the hackers, but the better player who dragged them back there. The responsibility falls on the person with more knowledge.

Xander handled it very well. It looked like he refocused just quickly. Hit a fine shot.

Yep. I am a Tiger fan & I agree that they go overboard on this type of stuff. However it is the same w/ other folks like LeBron. Again - it fuels all of their other shows & content (First Take & similar are not going to spend even 2 mins talking about Molinari).

What are you going to do? It is the world we live in at this time.

BTW - if you have an issue w/ the general media outlets focusing too much on Tiger & others then you can simply watch the Golf Channel or launch other golf sites who will discuss others. Sure they will talk somewhat about Tiger, but you will also get lots of coverage and discussion about the other golfers.

Missing fairways and greens cost him a chance of winning this tournament. And it was on 11 and 12. Two holes, 3 strokes.

I haven't watched ESPN Sports Center in many years and I do get my updates/highlights from the crew at Golf Channel.

Choked how? By shooting even par on a day where there were 6 scores in the 60s?

You ever played Carnoustie? Lol. You think those last 3 holes are easy?

Stop hatin. He hasn’t been in that position in a long time.
Tiger has never won a Major when not in the lead heading into the final day. He had an opportunity to win this tournament but wasn't aggressive and chose to play safe golf. I admit I despise Tiger but he is just a good player and not an elite golfer anymore despite the media trying to prop him up.

Tiger had momentum but choked down the stretch. Molinari was not intimidated by him and deserved this win.

You are absolutely correct. Tiger played it safe because he couldn't trust his driver.

As did lots of players. Some just on Sun & others continuing a downslide that started on Sat. How about Tommy Fleetwood, Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson, Kevin Chappell, Adam Scott, etc, etc?

I guess that pretty much all of these golfers suck - huh? It could not have been - I don't know - that the freaking course was playing extremely difficult yesterday? I guess folks just don't appreciate how tough that course played yesterday.
Yes that course was tough but Tiger is supposed to be the GOAT. He showed that he still is good but not great.

It's almost as if they think it's a good idea to write about what the majority of people want to read about.

Idiots.

I agree that Tiger fans tend to be sycophantic idiots.

Real fans want to read about the winner, not some washed up loser.

Tiger is not the GOAT, has never been the GOAT and isn't going to be the GOAT.

Casual fans outnumber real fans. Casual fans want to read about Tiger. Real fans don't get their golf news from Yahoo.

If you want to talk about choking...you should really focus on Spieth.
