LeBron is 33.

You used Kareem (the ageless wonder) and MJ who was the best player in the league at 35 as examples as to why LeBron was not going to be worth getting. LeBron is 33.

I think the LeBron/MJ comparison is very apt in terms of aging. LeBron is still going to be a beast in 3 years as long as he avoids major injury.

Yeah, I kept thinking that "next year is when his decline starts" because of all of the mileage he's put on his body. I've given up trying to predict it.

Dude has literally spent 7 figures on keeping himself in top shape. I thought Kobe was ridiculous about that.

Lebron is making Kobe look like Shaq in that regard. lol

If he had any serious hand injury we would have found out whether he was trying to hide it or not. You don't think all the media that hangs around Cavs practices during the Finals, or in and around the team/locker room wouldn't have noticed something up? LeBron with a hand injury, especially a shooting hand injury is enormous news.

You also would have seen him, WITHOUT A CAST, really favoring his other hand probably see the injured hand swollen and wincing anytime it got bumped.

I mean are we really going to believe this narrative? C'mon LeBron, you don't need to come up with ridiculous excuse as to why you guys got swept by the Warriors. You had an amazing post season, carried Cleveland to the Finals, and no one expected the Cavs to win it. The Warriors are more stacked than LeBron's Heat teams. There is no shame in getting swept by the Warriors given what that roster was and the Cavs roster was.

coming up with some excuse that has zero validity to it adds to the reason LeBron is disliked by many. LeBron should have embraced the villain role when he went to Miami, his legacy would have been different.

Reminds me of trying to predict when that Duncan, Parker, Ginobli core would stop competing at a high level for the Spurs. That day refused to come.

You have the Warriors desperately trying to convince people that this was their toughest championship on one side and LeBron complaining about his teammates and "breaking his hand" on the other. Not a good look for the NBA after these Finals, I have to say.

It's a desperate way to try and hype up what was a dud of a Finals.
I wonder if the Warriors know they're favored to win it next year too

It was an article with quotes attributed to David West about all the turmoil within the team

Oh right yeah I heard he said something about something that hadn't come out yet. I'm not sure if it's 'turmoil' or what. They looked pretty cohesive in the playoffs. Maybe the seasonal grind made a couple guys testy who knows. :noidea:

Here is some food for thought - they say Klay Thompson is balking at signing a contract extension - quite frankly - He can 10 million more per year by becoming a free agent - Hoops Hype has him for another year, with Durant having a 26 million player option - Flash forward to if and when Thompson wants his 30 million per year, Curry getting 37 million, Iggy getting 16 and Durant 25 to 30 - and Draymond Green 17 million, and Lvingston 9 million - I think that could easily end up 150 or more per year - can they afford that? Does the League say something about it(I doubt they will) at what point are they buying their championships?

The league can't say anything about it since Golden St. has their bird rights. Golden St. is just going to have to pay a really hefty luxury tax bill. At some point, I believe it's going to be year 2020, their luxury tax bill is predicted to be $400 million.

If you want to know what quitting on your team really looks like, look no further than a player being under contract threatening to have season ending surgery if he isn't traded.

Kyrie quit on the Cavs. And LeBron drug them right back to the same place they failed last year without him, filling in for Kyries role himself on top of everything he already did.
So now this is Kyrie's fault??? That's ridiculous.

That's a very interesting comment that West made. My curiosity has peaked.
Something to do with GS specifically or is he talking about another team?

Butt hurt? Lol, ok.

I agree with the perception, and LeBron didn't help things by wearing a cast to the postgame. But I'm guessing he cared more about his hand then perception at that point.

Reporters had the story. You can get them to hold off while the series is going on, but you're not going to stop a story about LeBron punching a blackboard and hurting himself.

If LeBron did somehow keep it under wraps, the same people criticizing him for using it as an excuse would be criticizing him for burying a story that makes him look bad.
How do you know who had the story & if they sat on it til the series was over? How do we know he didn't just comment on it after the game at his locker?

I'm pretty sure the Warriors were referring to the WCF as being the toughest challenge this season - coupled with all the injuries they had throughout the season.
