If out of all on this list they end up with Branch and Francois then it is pretty clear that the current administration lacks the ability to objectively identify talent. "Played for me before" should not be the #1 requirement to get a contract in Detroit.

Worked for Rod Mari....never mind.

Lions sign Sylvester Williams

NICE!

Lions signed NT Sylvester Williams, formerly of the Titans.

Williams was cut by the Titans this past weekend and quickly lands on his feet in Detroit where he figures to play the old Alan Branch role in new coach Matt Patricia's defense as an early-down run stopper. Williams turns 30 later this year.

Big hole filled with that signing.

Targeting solid, 2nd-tier, under-appreciated players is quickly becoming the Bob Quinn way.

This is the basis for a very deep team. This approach also leaves cap space to sign players who deserve big money. Now all we need is players that deserve big money.

Wilson < Ebron

It saved money and hurt the potential of the offense imo.

Still had better draft a TE.

I like the signing. I was wanting Ebron to stay if he could be the TE he was the last 5 or 6 games last year.

Don’t know that he’s the best option, but he will produce more than Roberts.

Not bad. A younger version of Branch. I still would like 1 more not named RJF. I think all our DTs wee gone except A'shawn.

They finally kick Andre Fluellen out of the building?

So he will still drop and we can trade back get some extra picks and take him late 1st round.

It seems all scenarios for me involve a trade to always get a extra early pick every year.

This year i'll be happy with Guice or a DT that can play 3/4I in the 1st, but if we trade back that would be even better

Are you guys seriously excited about Sylvester Williams, or is that sarcasm?

The guy just got cut after playing the first year of a 3 year contract.

The staff that cut him runs basically the same defense we'll be running.

Compared to Jared Ledbetter and Christian Ringo, hell yes. We need a lot more but at least we wont be playing guys out of position who most people never heard of.

Not sure I’m right, just wondered if he’s another Haynesworth type that got paid and became lazy? Seems a little high for a prove it deal. He will be playing this year attempting to get one final shot at a 2 or 3 year deal. May payoff, but I doubt it will make Smitty happy.

Odds are in your favor. Don't think I'd heard of the guy before we signed him. Dudes 30 and occupies space. Remember that time we had two, athletic DTs, that made tackles and didn't just occupy space? Ah, good times.

They took the black trim off the unis. Might've been my high point as a Lions fan the last years.

Big fan of the unis.

Center stripe on the helmets could be addressed. But that's about the extent of my complaints in that department.

The Titans released their defensive tackles because of a scheme change, Williams is not worth the 6 million he would have been paid, He's a very average NT nothing to get excited about(So a big upgrade over Haloti at a cheaper price)

Remember that time when our overpriced DTs got wham blocked for 20+ yard runs with ease for over half a season? Good times...
