Bozak had 2:08 PP time last night. Nylander had 50 seconds.

There was also a 5-on-3 that Marner didn’t get in on.

PLAY YOUR BEST PLAYERS ON THE PP, BABS! :L

That wasnt all the coach's fault. TB were incredibly inept at clearing the zone, and one PP went almost entirely without a whistle in the TB zone, IIRC.

That "Hand of God" was working for TB on the shot that rolled towards the open net, then curled back out. Never seen anything like that either.

But why is Bozak starting the PP ahead of someone like Nylander? On what planet does it make sense to start your PP by sitting your (current) best centre in lieu of a guy who might legit be the fifth best C on the team now?

If he stays out until the last 2 or 3 of the season, I am good. :thumb:
If TB and Boston pull away, I'd like to see everybody getting breaks.

Especially Andy.

Leivo was the target of ridicule during the intermission but as a guy with an elite shot who can't get it off on his own, 5 on 3 is probably the best situation for him.

But yeah, Marner should probably be the guy passing to him in that situation anyway.

Of course it should be. Why is Marleau getting more time than them too?

And have we even scored on a 5-on-3 this season? Feel like we get one every two games and nothing happens (because usually Marner/Nylander/Matthews aren't his first choice). That's cost us a game or two.

Given that today is the first game between the two all season and the Sabres are a lake fire, Lou probably forgot the Sabres exist.

Unlike Babcock, who’s in extra troll mode today:

Leafs played like shit and deserved to lose (as expected) but this along with the BS goalie interference review is just dumb.

Agreed.

I am in no rush to get AM back, but all the lines look awful right now. Bozak in particular is playing his way into a one-year $2M deal for 18-19.

It was one unimportant game in a long season, but (at the risk of being redundant) they are simply not tough enough to grind through the playoffs. Not even close. Kadri is the only one on the team with any spark. BUF was crashing the net all night and no response from the Buds. If they play BOS in the first round, they might win one by outscoring the Bruins, but that is it.

No surprise to me the colo(u)rs this guy is repping.

I don't believe that this happened, as I understand it a team would never do that with Matt Martin in the opposition lineup

True, very true.

Kidding aside, after 6 weeks as a healthy scratch, he must have figured an ill-advised penalty would get him a one-way ticket to the Calder Cup. He looked kinda lost out there.

Man, the Leafs’ schedule is so light down the stretch that the threat of them falling right off the fucking cliff and giving their playoff spot to Florida is very real to me.

I haven’t been impressed with a single shift by Tomas Plekanec. Gardiner is a turnover machine once again. Nylander’s gone cold at a very inopportune time to do so. Andy’s been shaky.

By the end of next week I think we’ll have a real sense of how the division is actually going to play out and hopefully Matthews will be close to returning by then too and Babcock can take stock of what exactly he has but I’d have to agree that they aren’t scaring anyone right now.

Agreed. Nylander seems to be developing into a streaky scorer. Two weeks ago, all 4 lines looked pretty good. Lately they have all been kaka. Hainsey is starting to show his age and the third pairing is a mess, no matter who is dressed that night. And Zaitsev.....oy. Maybe this year is a writeoff for him due to injury, but man I am getting nervous about that contract. Right now it looks much worse then Marleau or Martin.

Nylander for TJ Brodie at the entry draft.
