Is it possible to get complete agreement on this being (or represents) the socioeconomic and structural reality that exists in the U.S.? ( I agree that there are subsets belonging to each group)

True in every society, except some societies don’t have the power to ever give. Realistically, you can take the pyramid to every thing in life because somebody is always on top.

Chiefs could be just keeping Smith safe since they are already in. They won't be the only team. I here the Rams might be going to sit a bunch of people.

It's a smart move to sit smith in a meaningless game. I'm pretty sure that Mahomes has been working on transitioning into the NFL game. That said, he'll be getting live game experience, from which, both he and Kansas City get to gauge his progress then make necessary adjustments.

For the record: Take note fellow posters, this, is how well run organizations do it.

Though I am not disagreeing in total, it would have been hard to play Mahome's earlier as Smith has been the leading QB in the league all year by QB rating. I think if he had suffered suckage then you would have seen Mahome's earlier. It is easy to do the right thing in this case so I won't give any special props. It was a no brainer.

Really??? How often has it been debated that, and I quote: "You don't draft a QB that high just to sit him?"

Clearly NOT a "no brainer" for a lot of people.

LOL, I knew you would argue this point. I stand by what I said. Smith has had a GREAT year. Mahome's will get his time and maybe next year because Smith's contract is up. After the year he has had you want to be damned sure Mahome's can play at the same level or you will have the same situation that is going on in this town.

Point is if smith didn’t start out as MVP candidate mohomes would’ve already been playing.

I didn't argue Sty's point about sitting for a year. My point was that Mahomes is starting this week because they don't want Smith getting hurt before the playoffs. I think that is going to happen for a couple of teams this weekend who are locked into their playoff position. Next year is another story.

ON the sitting of a first round QB

With a rookie contract limited to 4 years (5 with the first round option) That boat has kind of sailed. Most teams picking a QB high did so because they dont have a competent QB in house. MOst owners dont have the patience for it. And its rather revisionist history to say NOW that this team should have sat our last 1st round QB until he had time to learn to be an NFL QB.

Kinda like saying... My Girlfriend is pregnant... I should have been smart enough to wear a condom. At the time everyone was enjoying how awesome the Bob was feeling, until he was all broken and never really the same again. :nono:

There was ONE poster saying that our last first round QB should have been made to sit. We had hundreds if not thousands of post going back and forth on the "mishandling" of that guy!! Hmmmmm, Now who exactly was that guy that stood his ground on sitting such a valued highly drafted first round QB?

Well Sty.. just as you dont seem to remember any one saying Gruden should be fired because he failed to fix RG3... i dont recall any posters proclaiming that Griffin shouldnt be a Day one starter in 2012.

I will admit to seeing you say it when he started to shit the bed.

NOPE!! I said it right after the draft, think about it for a moment, you were against moving up in the draft to get him and I stated at the time that he should be benched in order to properly transition into the NFL game. I'll try to find one of those threads.
