My favorite ones are when that Redheaded fire witch takes her clothes off. Except for that shitty ass episode where she took off her necklace and turned into a Golden Girl - fuck that - worst episode in the history of television.

I know this is the snobby way of thinking about it, but I wish I had watched the show without reading the books. I feel like I didn't get all the shock and anger that so many other people got. That makes me sad.

The Bolton battle from this year has to be near the top. Arguably the best medieval warfare combat scene ever filmed.

Yeah. Battle of the Bastards has to be in the mix...

You didn't feel that reading the book at the time?

I literally threw the book across the room reading the Red Wedding chapter.

No order but I'd go:

Red Wedding
Blackwater
Hardhome
The Mountain vs. The Red Viper
The one where Ned's head gets chopped off

Really disagree with the last episode of season 6 being #1. That episode was funny just because of how ridiculous it was, but it really wasn't that good.

The only "last episodes" of any season worth mentioning are Seasons 1 and 4. Daenerys walking out of the ashes and Tywin's fate were pretty spectacular. But - not in the context of any Episode Nines.

I didn't throw the book but I damn sure closed it and didn't pick it up for three days.

I have written that second sentence multiple times as I did the same thing.

But I just remember grinning while watching the Red Wedding episode with friends and them freaking out. Part of me wishes I was freaking out with them.

Would you guys say Game of Thrones is getting better? I stopped watching in Season 5 because I thought it was dragging a bit. I had Blackwater as the top episode when I stopped watching.

edit - Ah, look at all of those Season 5 episodes at the bottom of the list.

I thought A Golden Crown would be rated much higher than 38. That was the episode that really got me into it.

We get Bronn's trial by combat at the Eyrie.

Ned finally figures out what Jon Arryn had learned, that Robert's supposed children are not really his.

And of course the Golden Crown itself at the end where the series' first major(ish) character dies a pretty gruesome death.

Imo, thats in my top 10 in terms of importance. Its the episode where the show discards its baggage and starts moving at a dangerous (an exciting) clip.

The Mountain and The Viper just for this fight scene alone.

Yeah, a lot of folks weren't too crazy about the Dorne storyline and the Sand Snakes.

Stopped watching midway through S2. I guess my favorite episode, if memory serves me right, was the S1 finale.

Least favorite episode was easily S1E2. Fuck that episode. I know that the writers had to introduce Joffrey as a prick and follow the books at the same time, but goodness gracious, nobody fucking cares about a dog dying. I wanted Sansa, Arya (you're not innocent either you whiny prick), Joffrey, and King Robert to all die in the first five minutes of the next episode. Execution by firing squad, a la Valentine's Day Massacare. Sadly, GRRM is a fucking prick and doesn't even have guns in the series. WTF.

I mainly stopped watching for two reasons:

1. The series was following the books closely, and; having stopped after the third book, which I only gave 3/5 stars (I gave the first book 4/5 stars, and the second 3.5/5); it didn't seem worth my time- which leads me to my next point

2. The series is too fucking long for how much entertainment I would get out of it. I am fine watching 60+ episodes of The Wire and Breaking Bad (both 5/5 stars), but when you have 8 seasons and 7 (or I guess 5) books to cover, and it's not a top 5 TV drama for me personally, it's not worth my time. I learned my lesson with The Sopranos- 86 fucking hours and I only gave the whole series 3.5/5 stars. I am fine watching a two hour movie, awarding it 3.5/5 stars, and calling my expenditure of time a success. But ~80 hours? Fuck that.

Probably the reason I won't watch Mad Men (S1: 4/5 stars) until I'm on my death bed from cancer. Just give me 10 years *inhales cigarette*

Well, there is your issue there. Book 3 is basically the heart and soul of Game of Thrones as far as I'm concerned. If you don't like Book 3 then you probably should pass.

I had much more of an issue with the later books.
