Zito goes on the DL; Volgelsong up

I feel bad for feeling good about a players injury but this should be a nice opportunity for Volgelsong to get 3 starts in.

There is no way Zito is on the DL for longer than the minimum 15 days.

BTW, first time EVER Zito has missed a start due to injury.

Vogelsong won't get three starts. Zeets next two starts are 4/22 vs. ATL and 4/28 @ PIT. He is eligible to return from the DL 5/2. His next start would be 5/4 @ NYM. That's when he'll be activated and Ryan will be sent back down.

Assuming Zito doesn't need to throw in the minors (which is likely the case). I'll bet Zito is fine by his next scheduled start, this is just to see what the Giants have IMO. It will give them a small sample size, though a sample none the less, to see what they have if another starter goes down for a longer period of time.

Does Vogelsong have options? I believe he will have to be DFA'd in order to go back to Fresno (not that that is a huge issue since he would likely clear waivers and accept the assignment)
