Agreed. Phelps is a 27 year old man, not a kid anymore. This is his 3rd season in the majors..

Last season he threw a number of games into the 6th-7th innings with 100-115 pitches thrown. I don't understand why the Yankees have training wheels on him this season?

Not bad just your normal middle relief type of numbers as he has a 3.7 ERA with 8 holds, 1 SV and 1 BS.

His first 2 yrs before the Yanks try to turn him into a full time starter was amazing as he had an era of 0.38 and 2.60. Once they tried to make him a full time starter, his ERA the rest of the years in NY looked like this 4.75, 4.40, 2.83, 4.35, and 4.93

Dellin Betances is not available today, but everyone else in the bullpen should be, plus Jose Ramirez is here for the day. Girardi said he feels he has plenty of pitching for a doubleheader.

• Derek Jeter will not play the second game. Neither will Jacoby Ellsbury, who was sick yesterday. “He said he felt good, so we’ll try to get the one game out of him today,” Girardi said. Ichiro Suzuki will play the second game. Brett Gardner is the DH for the first game because he’s going to play center field in the second game.


• Shawn Kelley is expected to come off the disabled list by the end of this upcoming road trip through Chicago and St. Louis.

@M_Marakovits Pineda threw 28 pitch bullpen session. Felt fine. 2 days off then will throw 30-40 pitch pen. After that will start facing hitters #Yankees

not taking the extra bases in the first two innings could come back and bite us. Soriano was up in the first and I don't know who was up in the second, but twice pitches were bounced and got away from the catcher. The batter waved the runners on, but they didn't advance. Both of them would have led to runs.

Man Aceves sucks. He needs to be the mop up men when the game is ugly......He shouldn't be anywhere close to the mound in a close game but 2 of 3 I'll take it.

Now we spend the week in Chicago against 2 shitty Chicago teams. I'm expecting us to go at least 4-2 this week

BTW I wish we would've sent Gardner there on that double with 2 outs. If it is one out, I'm all for holding him at 3rd but with 2 outs you gotta send him in a 1 run game...That catch by the LF after the leadoff single by Jeter in the 8th was sick and probably saved the gam

Aceves does suck. Guy gives up runs every time he pitches. At least we took 2 out of 3. I will take it. Hard to win a double header.
