Yankees Turn Down Phillips Trade

Reds were willing to trade Gardner for Phillips but Yankees turned it down. Yankees want Homer Bush in the Package because Phillips has a deal through 2017. So Yankees wanted Bush or Reds to pay for most of his Contract. Reds said no.

Heard they still might be in talks and the Reds are asking for a Prospect and Gardner for Bush and Phillips.

Overall I hope this goes down because we get our #4 or #5 starter and our starting 2nd baseman.

I understand our reasoning for rejecting it. According to espn Phillips had declining numbers and he also may ask for more money because he's not happy with his contract. They said Infante is asking for too much at the moment. If A-Rod doesn't get suspended we actually wouldn't need another 2B as Kelly Johnson can be our everyday 2B

I haven't read anything real on Homer Bailey, that's all just speculation.

I agree on Kelly Johnson, he's not Robinson Cano or Dustin Pedroia or even Aaron Hill but he's a serviceable second baseman with occasional power, plus he bats lefty.

Although I would love Phillips in NY, they need pitching.

It's too bad the Mets and Yanks needs overlap a bit too much since the Mets are shopping Daniel Murphy who is basically a super utility infielder and could play 3B if need be.
