The War Chant has always been played by the band at Illinois football games in order to fire up the Illini fans and players whenever the opponent's offense is faced with a 3rd down.

Illini end 'war chant' song at sporting events

Does Illinois still use the very cool war drum entrance for the football team, or has that been stopped too?
Another view of the Fighting Illini war drum entrance from the tunnel.....it's starts at the 34 second mark of the following video. I would not be surprised if the dumb-ass school administrators also stopped this practice:

Band should go out on to the field and just stand there
That would be funny
