MLB Network is talking about Dave Roberts becoming the first black manager to take over a team after they reached the playoffs. Now they're saying that MLB is becoming less "color blind." As if racism is so prevalent in baseball today...

Roberts is half black and half Japanese. So that means that he is the 1st Japanese manager ever! Roberts is
married to a white woman. So what nationality will they call his kids? Does the black blood always take precedence? What if one of his kids becomes a manager in the future. Will they call him the 1st Jawhibla manger
ever? (Jawhibla) Japanese-White-Black.

You left out Japanese West Coast. When you are from Japan that is considered a nationality. You know what I meant but you like to break my stones. So for your sake, I will change it to ("What will they call his kids?)

Also the first black manager to be named manager in the middle of the week in an odd numbered year with a payroll over 180 million

All this Roberts talk is taking away from the real point- Klentak picking up Mr. 2011 4.2 WAR defensive wizard Peter Bourjos

As a certain poster with the Phillie Phanatic as his avatar said previously, start printing the playoff tickets!!!!!

love the .682 lifetime OPS. With the added power he will have in the Phillies hitter friendly park he'll also have the offensive prowess as such stars as Cody Asche or Domonic Brown

I actually think it's not a bad deal given the money and the fact we didn't have to give anything up

Good grief, .241/.302 lifetime and he hit.200 this year, .188 RISP, .233 men on. :L We already have a few guys like this. He also underwent hip surgery last year and had a below-average defensive ratings in 2015. Possibly a Braindead II move. But maybe I'm too hasty, we'll give it a shot. At 28, and with fan encouragement, he might find new life here. :suds:

I really don't see the problem with this. For 2 million dollars, we got a guy who plays great defense, is a good baserunner, and has had a few spurts of decent offense in his career. I mean honestly, would you rather see him, or Asche, who plays awful defense and has never hit decently in the majors?

I guess he's definitely good as a defensive replacement but will he hit? I'd rather have Captain Underpants back.

Bourjos is on a decline. His baserunning was poor at best last year. The hip situation has contributed to his
problems. Could be Frenchies replacement as utility outfielder.

I'd take Bourjos over Frenchy or Asche any day

It's too early to give up on Asche, 25. Even with unexciting 3 year stats of .246/.301/.392 and a 5, 10, 12 homer progression. They should start him and see how it goes. He might bust out and even learn how to play a decent outfield. :hope:
