Say for a 3rd rd pick? I don't think you could get a 2nd. He will be 30 next year and It would save us 7.5 million. We could probably draft a young stud with the 10th pick like Bud Dupree then use the second and two 3rds to fix the Oline. or with the money sign another FA. I know its fantasy Fisher is way to loyal to do a move like that but Just a thought.

yes for 2 reasons:

1) let him play in a playoff game and contend
2) get more picks = more Dline young guys

Absolutely NOT. I don't care if it doesn't show up in the stats: he is one of the 5 most important players on the team.

I agree Clayton the defense seemed to start playing a lot better when he returned from his injury. and he is no doubt a true leader. but its tough… you might be able to get something for him now save a ton of money and lock up a young stud for the next 4 years. how many years does he have left? I could have made the thread about JL55 to its pretty much the same situation. Dante Fowler Jr. would be a pretty nice addition to that Dline.

JL is much more expendable, imo. I also dont think there would be much of a trade market for Long in terms of attractive picks. There are much better ways to clear money off the roster.

Your probably right about JL55. I said C. Long Because the draft looks to be much stronger at the DE position. I don't see a MLB I would take at 10.

Yeah, that strength is one of the reasons why you probably wouldn't see much of a trade market

The time to trade Long was last year when Mack was sitting there. Its certainly something more than a couple of Rams fans thought was a possibility.

JL is only expendable if they then turn their focus to MLB in the 1st or 2nd round. Rams LB depth is awful. I think the Rams need to draft 2 LBs even if they KEEP JL.

No. C. Long is a stalwart leader in the locker room and on the field and his approach of never taking a play off and bringing integrity and mental discipline to the game is one of the reasons the team and especially the defense turned it up a notch. When he was out, the defense had no leader and the team missed his fire!
