I'm surprised how low the wOBAs are for Panda and Franchez, but I guess I shouldn't be considering their lack of walks.

Mostly I think lack of walks and power. Interestingly, Sanchez was projected at around 0.313, but panda is well off his projection: 0.382.

What a loser......

It's a weighted on base average. It's designed to correlate with how many runs a player actually produces with his offensive performance. The designers of the stat looked at historical league averages to see how many runs scored on average due to various "events".

So essentially it is: wOBA = ((0.72 x NIBB) + (0.75 x HBP) + (0.90 x 1B) + (0.92 x RBOE) + (1.24 x 2B) + (1.56 x 3B) + (1.95 x HR) / PA

NIBB = non-intentional base on balls
RBOE = reached base on error
HPB = hit by pitch
1B, 2B, 3B, HR = single, double, triple. homerun

The weights assigned to each event will change depending on what era you're looking at. So different sites will have different weights.

It's pretty straightforward once you have all the data. wOBA misses the little things though, like moving runners over, hit and run ability, and the formula above leaves out steals/caught stealing - I think fangraphs wOBA includes the latter. So, while it's much better than OPS, OPS+, it's still not the perfect stat.
