I may have cursed him in many separate occasions, but he was still responsible for that dumb, stupid team I love so much. Rest In Peace

I was at Mlive when I heard this. I was shocked it happened so soon. I was sort of expecting another week or two at least.

My prayers go out to the entire Ford family. From everything I know of the man, he was a wonderful person, so I know his passing away must be hard on those close to him.

Great family, great man. May he rest in peace.

As bad as we all want to see the Lions win the SB, he wanted it more.

R.I.P. Sir, Contrary to the belief of some, you were not responsible for the Lions failures. Several years you had the highest payroll and before he was hired everyone said Millen was a must hire. God will Bless you sir. The Lions must win one for Mr. Ford

RIP in Mr. Ford. Loyal to a fault isn't a bad way to be remembered IMO.

My condolences to the Ford family, for what that's worth on a message board at least. Mlive put it well, imo: (paraphrasing here) "His biggest fault was that he was overly loyal to his employees." I think that pretty much tells you what a class act he was...

Sure that's very classy to be loyal, but what about loyalty to the fan? You know the ones that pay for him to pay the coaches, GM etc.......

They only thing that cures these things is winning and lets be honest, he wasnt very good at.

RIP WCF, I'll soon rip the next one unless he learns, fans are first and foremost. Much like taxpayers this country falls if we stop paying taxes.

Ford never treated the fans bad. We played in first-class facilities during his tenture; the Silverdome was the shit way back when, and when it was time to replace it, he built Ford Field right in the heart of the D. Despite being ten years old already, it remains one of the top venues in the NFL. That place gets absurdly loud in big games.

He's also always allowed his GMs to spend to the cap, which isn't always a given with all 32 teams.

We had nothing to complain about from ownership other than holding onto his guys too long, when it was obvious they needed to go. But when you put it all into perspective that's really, really, really minor in the grand scheme of things.
