This is flat out retarded that they don't have a coach yet. I am wondering if they have figured out that they aren't smart enough to get a good coach and are afraid to pull the trigger or perhaps fighting about it. Very strange that an organization would be this unprofessional

The Lakers dont have their guy. And they dont want to committ. Just like they dont have anyone on their roster because they went for the big prizes. So next summer. In the meantime as far as coaching goes. I think they are asking around for a coach willing to fill in for the time being. I dont see any takers. Plus they arent going to go to bottom of the barrel for fear of outcry. Obviously im speculating but at this point why not?

I think they were just waiting on TLF to make a thread about it. Now that he has, the announcement should be coming very soon.

IDK TLF, I suspect they are not in hurry because they have already decided upon B. Scott. The reason they are not in hurry if it is B. Scott is because he has been in the booth and covered many of last year's games. He knows what the team will consist of because many of the players on the team last year are back and he probably is very aware of the new guys. So it would take all of the pressure off that would be there to bring a non-Lakers type coach and that is probably why they don't see a need to make an official announcement.

I hope this is an accurate scenario. I think Scott would be a fine choice.

I think it is because they are only offering a one year contract.

Could be Hangman although that wouldn't make a great deal of sense to then have to look for another coach in a year. Unless you are being facetious!

The reason why they might only want a short term deal is because they have Doc on their radar or someone who is going to be a FA. Or to use it as leverage to get a max player in FA or they are just not happy with who is available and think they might find someone better next year.

I really think that it is that they hope Doc leaves the clippers due to Sterling and then have a proven head coach who Kobe respects and free agents would love to play for.

I am not patient and would like to know now if they are going to screw it up again with a bad coach like Dumbtoni

You mean when the Lakers hired D'Antoni 3 days after firing Brown?

Did you want another quick appointment?

They were still holding out hope that possibly they could land LeBron and were waiting to see IF they got him what coach HE wanted... That's what I have been hearing

There is an article this morning at Yahoo Sports (which isn't exactly the best source on the planet) suggesting that Doc Rivers doesn't want to coach a Donald Sterling owned team anymore. What that means exactly is anybody's guess or even if the article is legitimate to begin with. What, is Rivers going to walk across the hall and sign with the Lakers? Speculation abounds.

I think they could be looking at a player coach tandem of Bryant/Nash on a 1 year deal...

Lord knows there's a good chance one, if not both, will be spending a lot of time on the pine anyways.... :L
