And by "blow it", I mean "Which top seeds are gonna implode once they reach the NCAA tournament?".
Folks, it's all here. Bubble talk, championship talk, NCAA berths getting clinched, you'll find it on this thread.

But first, I need to see who's in already. Give me a moment...

2023-24 season review so far (Part 2- The mid-majors)

And now for the fun part! Here is how the NCAA picture looks for the mid-majors:

AAC:

Atlantic 10:
IN:

Almost!: Richmond, Loyola-Chicago

Ivy League:

Princeton

Missouri Valley:

Well, what do you guys think? Do you think the Mountain West will really get 5 berths? Should I have given McNeese State some more love?

Thank God Oklahoma (19-8) knocked off Oklahoma St (12-15) at the buzzer 84-82 (OT). Their last few games to end the regular season is murderer's row...

L @ #11 Baylor (19-8)
L vs #9 Kansas (21-6)
W @Oklahoma St (12-15)

@ #6 Iowa St (21-6)
vs #2 Houston (24-3)
vs Cincinnati (16-11)
@Texas (17-10)

I predict OU will finish 20-11 (8-10) to finish the regular season. Currently projected as an 8-seed.

Some of these teams shouldn't even get a look.

* Syracuse - 85 NET ranking
* NC State - 77 NET ranking
* Kansas State - 73 NET ranking
* Butler - 62 NET ranking
* Iowa - 60 NET ranking
* Minnesota - 78 NET ranking
* Oregon - 63 NET ranking
* UCLA - 112 NET ranking ( :pound:)
* Ole Miss - 75 NET ranking

The Mid-Majors not even worth mentioning.

St. Johns - 44, Utah - 54, and Texas A&M - 58, needs work to do. St. John's is probably in though so CBS can stroke Rick Pitino during the first weekend. If your NET is between 45 to 50, you're under a microscope. If its below 60, you're just not good.

Virginia - 49 NET ranking, 3 QUAD 1 wins.

They're on life support. But at least they have multiple QUAD 1 wins ( with more Q1 opportunities ) unlike most of these bubble teams. The math is not mathing on these brackets.

UNC beats Miami in a good game, RJ Davis with 42 points, a Dean Dome record.

Kansas St blew a 25 point lead and is now in OT against WVU. This is a must win game for Kansas St if they are going to get into the tourney.

Small recap and 2/28 slate

Happily for @Xeliou66 and Kansas State fans, the Wildcats would indeed win in OT against WVU on Monday. As for yesterday, Kansas lost a LOT of winning streaks when BYU stunned them 76-68. We also saw Utah State and San Diego State keep their composure in conference games, Kentucky rallying to win at Miss. State, and Loyola-Chicago now in REAL danger of missing the tournament.

So what is going on today? Let's find out:

Rhode Island @ VCU (6:30)
HUGE Main event game: Auburn @ Tennessee (7:00)
Providence @ Marquette (7:00)
(BIG game for Providence tonight; their NCAA hopes will get a BIG boost if they get the upset.)
Northwestern @ Maryland (7:00)
James Madison @ Georgia State (7:00)
Oklahoma @ Iowa State (8:00)
California @ Colorado (8:00)
Drake @ UIC (8:00)
Indiana State @ Evansville (8:00)
South Carolina @ Texas A&M (8:30)
St. John's @ Butler (8:30) (Neither of these teams can afford to lose this one.)
Seton Hall @ Creighton (9:00) (The Pirates are in the same situation as the Friars tonight.)
Minnesota @ Illinois (9:00)
Alabama @ Ole Miss (9:00)
Oregon State @ Oregon (11:00)

Thanks for giving me this info, sir. Man, I had no idea that Syracuse was so far behind.

2/28 recap

Good news for some bubble teams: Both Providence and Seton Hall failed in their upset attempts against Marquette and Creighton [respectfully]. Oh, and here's what else happened yesterday:

St. John's over Butler 82-59
Iowa State over Oklahoma 58-45
Illinois over Minnesota 105-97
South Carolina over Texas A&M 70-68 (Brutal loss for the Aggies, man.)
Boston University over Lehigh 64-62 in OT
Northwestern over Maryland 68-61
High Point over Winthrop 100-96 in OT
Wofford upsets Samford 91-69 (Now any chance of Samford getting an at-large berth is dead.)
Purdue-Fort Wayne over Wright State 79-77 in OT
Colorado over California 88-78
Illinois State over Missouri State 75-74
Drake over UIC 107-105 in OT
Virginia over Boston College 72-68
Oregon over Oregon State 78-71

And as @Xeliou66 recently reported, both Tennessee and Alabama came out winners in the SEC.

My God that Clemson coach is a real crybaby. Apparently the Big 12 has been "manipulating the NET rankings". It's called playing against the best athletes in the best conference ever assembled.

I would worry about the pending death of the ACC if I were you Clemson coach. You guys lucky you have a good football team or else you'll be demoted to the Northeast or SWAC conference.

Baylor beats Kansas in a Big 12 showdown. I’m not all that impressed with Kansas this year, they are pretty thin.

South Carolina with a 6 point win over Florida in a good game.

Im not sold on Johnny Furphy going pro, he should stick around another season...otherwise he will end up like Dick on the end of the Raps bench (at best)

I don’t follow the NBA, but yeah I agree from what I’ve seen from Furphy, he’s not that great. Dickinson, McCullar ( when healthy) and Adams have basically carried Kansas from what I’ve seen.
