Now he'll get a chance to show what he can do with the bat. Ohtani saw some time in the outfield with the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, but the Angels plan to use him exclusively out of the DH spot, likely a couple of times per week in between his starts.

Will he count as both (p/bat) in fantasy?

depends on the league site and the league rules... you can do whatever you want in your local leagues...

and depending on that, his value is very different...

Site/Commish/League depending.

I believe CBS will have both positions available for the owner. Weekly leagues, you must choose which position for the week. Daily, you can mix and match all week.

Yeah. I think he'll be drafted too high for my liking. I'm also not involved in any daily leagues either, so I guess that swings it even more for me.

I don't think his bat is major league ready, he struck out way too often in Japan... cant imagine his ratios being better, especially if they want him to hit HRs...

His arm, I think is his real asset... But what do we know about pitching prospects?? they often get hurt and they rarely reach 170 innings their rookie seasons...

so yea, I think his hype will overdraft him... but in daily leagues where he can bat and pitch, he is well worth the risk...
