who said we got garbage for Hamels, Utley, Giles, JRoll, Revere, etc.? Afterall who will play 2B? SS? We need an ace..."Hamels is only 30 build around him!" Who will close?
Yeah you guys were right, watching a 65 win team with an ace and a closer is so much more fun.

Sorry for that awful reference. I was just trying to inject some mid 80's Philly flavor but I'm sure that is way too obscure.

wait til I break out the "Crazy Eddie" references.
What is that quote you had like 2 years ago from (I'm assuming) an '80s movie that was like "Go out in a blaze. Rock and roll!" I searched for it but couldn't find it

That was from a movie called "Slacker". I think it was the first movie Richard Linklater did before Dazed and Confused--probably early 90's. These two hipsters (one was a freak with a TV set strapped to his back) were like film buffs and they were watching some bootleg vhs tape of some nutjob. I'll see if I can find it.

Yeah, maybe I'll write a fan fiction of Brad Lidge shooting himself after going 48-48 in saves in 2008

Yeah, we're all here, watching them build a team around Howard. I can only say that when you watched all the retards the Phillies have processed over the last few years - from Jon Pettibone, Tyler Cloyd, Ethan Martin, Dom Brown to Casper Wells, John Macdonald, Susdorf, Delmon, Harang, and Bernadina - that when some guy on the team like a Hamels or Giles, who really knows what he's doing, becomes a trade candidate - many fans get paranoid, stop thinking clearly, and say, "wtf, we'll be left with nothing"(lol), especially after the FO demonstrated their gross incompetence in making trades in the past, like giving up solid prospects for Pence then dumping him for 50 cents.

Now, it turns out these two big trades will finally allow the Phillies to become winners again. It's funny how things work out. Someone on the Phillies side had clearly done their homework:

Amaro's final big trade - for Hamels - Jorge Alfaro, outfielder Nick Williams, pitchers Alec Asher, Jerad Eickhoff, and Jake Thompson, may initially have appeared to some to have been a HOU robbery, and at the time, people including me felt we got only garbage. Then, taking a closer look, it became clear that outside of lame Matt Harrison included in the trade, the Phils got a huge haul as is being demonstrated now with SP Eickhoff and the others in the minors who have actually moved ahead of the home grown talent.

Klentak's first big trade - for Giles - netting the Phils Mark Appel, Bret Oberholtzer, and Vince Velasquez, Panamanian Harold Arauz, and 21-year old Thomas Eshelman, first appeared to me to be a disaster - nobody likely to win very soon. But based on Velasquez's past two outings alone, the Phils may have acquired a Tom Seaver or a Roy Halladay. So this trade was worth it even if Vinnie is the only guy who works out in the long run.

You knuckleheads are going to fool around and get yourselves a temporary suspension. It is not about what I say but what the sponsors of the website find offensive. If Hammer receives a notice, guess who he is going to come and see? Ya get it now ya' freakin dumb bastards!
