So, no big rumors regarding the Fins since their Day 1 splashes. But, they still have 30 mil or so in cap space to use - Who is out there that fits well with the team? That you would like?

Any rumors you are hearing about? Post it here

Fins lose Nolan Carroll to the Eagles. Not a big loss at all.. Always felt he was someone we could improve upon, even in a back up role.

I'd expect one of the 2 rookies to step up this year in replace of Carroll but it would be nice to lock up one more CB in FA. Patterson would be good if the Fins can get him cheaper.

Haven't heard much else....

Next question: Having addressed DL, OL and S so far in FA - Where does the focus shift for the draft? I think they can now hold off on DL and OL until the later rounds of the draft and focus on other positions in the first round - What position do you think?

I think we have to see what happens here as it looks like they may sign a CB and OG. Heard a few coming to town which will take the pressure off the draft as they can then go best player in a few positions. I'd still expect any tie breaker to be Oline but if anyone slid down I'd hate to see them pass based on need.

The Fins have 2 high quality starters at LT & C on the Oline yet that still leaves 3 open positions. I think Shelley Smith, who is visiting the Fins, could be a very good choice for a G spot. I also like the fact that the team is looking to meet with RT Z Strief. If the Fins sign two more quality Olinemen then they could probably find a starter at guard at pick #19. The team would drastically improve the offense. The team could get another OT for depth in the second round to add to the oline along with Garner, Brenner & D Thomas. The defense should be at least as good as last year if they get quality play from the 2nd & 3rd starting CB's. We all know Grimes will do great at one of the CB spots. I'd like to see Patterson come back at a more affordable contract considering his injury history or the Fins could find another experienced FA to play for a year or two as Taylor & Davis develop.

CB Finnegan visiting Fri he could be had for a decent prove it contract and would make for a good pairing with Grimes. I'm pumped! Do that and fix the oline and we're in business...

Was just about to post about Finnegan. If we get that done, then we just made the draft a whole lot easier for us. I think we will be able to sign another OL soon as well.

As mentioned before, Finnegan and Shelley Smith on the Fins radar and could get deals done in the next 24-48 hours.

I'm told the Dolphins have made an offer to Shelley Smith. He has offers from other teams, as well. Still a fluid situation.

This just in from Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald

I'm not sure if Smith is any good I'll trust their evaluation but either way I'd like to see at least one more OL signed possibly two.

I'm also hoping that Finnegan is worth signing as just recently he was a highly touted player. Not sure what happened in St Louis but he has it in him.

Smith is a mauler at guard. He will create running lanes. In the passing game he's avg however good coaching can help him to develop as a pass blocker. RT Z Strief is still out there and he is a great player. He would prob win a probowl spot in Miami with the improvement he would bring at RT. CB Finnegan played hurt last year, if healthy he could have enough left in the tank to win one of the two open CB spots, if not, that'd mean Davis and/or Taylor won the spot(s) & finnegan could bring much needed depth. I saw a better Fins team when CB Patterson was healthy so hopefully he'd agree to a new cap friendly contract. QB's are going to look first to pass opposite of Grimes so the Fins have to have good players at the avail CB spots.

Dolphins reached agreement on a two-year deal with former Rams CB Cortland Finnegan, per league source.

I like both signings! If they get that RT then smooth sailing at the draft.

Z Strief appears to be considering taking a hometown discount to stay with the Saints Therefore, I think Tyson Clabo is worth considering for the Fins. A one year deal could be best. Unlike McKinnie, Clabo got better rather than worse as the year went along. He is probably the best FA RT available at this point. He will need chip blocks from a RB/FB or TE at times but overall he is at least avg at his position. The Fins could get a starting guard in the draft and get a RT to develop for the future in the 2nd round of the draft. Z Martin could play RT but he may be gone at pick #19 & at G he'd need to learn a new position. He's got excellent technique & movement but NFL OG's have to deal with powerful bull rushers up the middle & that would be an adjustment for him. The top rookie guards in this draft should be available at #19: X Su'A Filo (versatile LG that could be the best choice for the Fins), D Yankey (well rounded verse the pass or run but not overpowering) & G Jackson (powerful run blocker at RG, needs work vs the pass). Each of these guys have the potential to start right away. B Thomas would need to switch to guard but like the other guys he has the tools to succeed at the next level.

Yes agreed Clabo would be a good security blanket if they can't find someone in the draft who's capable of starting this yes. I could live with that but man I'd like a guy who's ready this way they could pick BPA each round. I'd up the ante for Streif make him think long and hard....
